Sitting next to Schwa at the judges' table was Zap slouching in his chair and deep in his notes, studying them thoroughly. He glanced up to take a final look at Grey and his opponent, DarkSlaya. He motioned them to wait a few more seconds for his final decision while he gathered his thoughts. Finally, after going over the last few pages of his notepad, Zap rubbed a bit of sand from his eyes and adjusted his glasses. He then straightened himself up in his seat and sighed.

Zap: First of all, nicely done both of you. You've given me one of the best battles I've seen in a while. DarkSlaya ... I'll comment on you first.

Your performance in this battle was

Schwa is waiting for Red and Blue by the tournament board.

"Hi, Blue. You amaze me. I tried reading your thoughts during your battle, but every time I tried there was some kind of energy feedback that damaged me... Anger can be pretty strong. But about my judging descision...

"You may have lost the battle, but you didn't lose my vote. Strange, I know, but I'll tell you why. You fought with the HARDEST circumstances anyone could ever have... rage. I've so been there, friend. Janus has seen it, Dracoon has heard of it. Watch." Schwa projects a mental picture to Blue of images of Schwa's battles of when he was enraged... During those fights, Schwa was engulfed in real flame, and his attacks were epic. The images subside, and Schwa speaks again. "You and I have something in common, man. We are both very focused most of the time, but like Red said, those dark feelings are bundled up and there's a random chance of a "meltdown", as I call it. I can relate to this, and I could see your emotional hurt, even without the mind-reading ability.

"You and DarkSlaya were both evenly matched in every way, but you fought with harder circumstances by far. So my vote rests with you, Blue. I want you to learn from this experience, and the images I gave you, as a reminder to learn to deal with the inner emotions before they overflow out of the "calm tank". And lastly... learn a better way to use that Oracle contraption. Tell Green I said that." He smirks. "Goodbye."

And with that, he turns, wavers and disappears.

Blue said nothing... He only stared at the ground, ashamed of his conduct and his loss of control. His body was badly bruised, his pride was badly wounded, and his mind was nearly shattered from the events of the day.

Blue: "I... I am not strong enough. Forgive me, DarkSlaya. My attitude in this battle was not that of a decent person."

He did not say anything else, but instead turned his back on the battle, and exited the arena, heading slowly up the stairways to the rooms provided for the rest and relaxation of the fighters. He sat down on his designated bed and began to meditate.

After about an hour, there was a knock on the door.

Blue: "You can come in, Evan."

Red entered the room, walked up to the meditating Agent, squatted down so that he was on level with his friend, and took off his sunglasses.

Red: "You're perceptive. Much moreso than me."

Blue did not move. Keeping his body still, he responded.

Blue: "I lack control. It is still a trait I need to learn."

Red: "No, John, you don't. You've got more control than anyone I know, and I know a lot of people. Sometimes, it just wells up in you and you have to release it."

Blue: "........Do you think I am weak, Evan?"

At this, Red laughed out loud, and extended his hand to push the cross-legged Blue to the ground.

Red: "You'll never beat me in a fight, that's for sure. But that doesn't make you weak at all! Far from it, actually."

Red got up, walked to the door, and left Blue's room. Before he did, however, he had one final statement to make...

"Come on, and relax. You did good today. Now get up and watch the next battle. I think it's Green's turn."

Blue's eyes opened, and he stared, puzzled, at Red, as he got to his feet.

Blue: "Do you know why Janus is not fighting?"

Red: "Beats me. Maybe he's waiting for the right opportunity."

Blue: "I see..."

The two men walked together to the lookout post for the next battle...

[OOC]Wait, so I can actually conclude this battle? Then I have the perfect way. [/OOC]

DarkSlaya: I will accept your offer, Red. This battle had gone too far. I believe that both Blue and I fought to our best. This is way I'm ready to walk out and let this as it is.

DarkSlaya then slowly walked out of the arena. He was injured, not seriously, but still injured.

[OOC]While short, I must say good fight, Grey.[/OOC]

All battles are closed for judging! (If you do manage to post before it turns into the 14th, which is 4 hours by the clock I'm running on, then the post will be counted.) So please, judges post here for you decision or in the tournament thread. Thank you for competing the second round of the tournament.

Red: "This has to stop. This has to stop!"

The Agent had gotten to his feet, as the lightning struck and the ice stormed. Blue had gone way too far. That much was clearly evident in his rage.

Red remembered the last time Blue got truly angry... That was definitely why he wasn't the leader. Blue normally had excellent control, but there's always a disorder within the control. It was unhealthy, it was always unhealthy. Though Blue was certainly able to keep him and Green in line, Red was the leader for a damn good reason...

Red stood up straight, and pushed his sunglasses up his nose. Another flash of lightning revealed his own eyes, just for a moment. Janus got up, and looked at Red, who stood tall, strong, and ready. Red was completely calm, and exhaled slowly, as heat began radiating from his body. Suddenly, his gaze steeled, and he locked his eyes on Blue, who continued expressing extreme anger high atop his platform.

Janus: "Evan, what're you..."

Red: "Janus, stop. I know what I'm doing."

Janus quieted down. Red truly knew what was going on in Blue's head right now, more than anyone else. He turned towards the raging Agent, walked up to the window from which the battle could be seen, and curled his hand into a fist, punching the glass and shattering it almost completely. Not a scratch appeared on his fist, hardened by constant physical training. He stepped onto the sill of the window and, in a feat of superhuman ability, sprung onto one of the platforms. It began to melt under the intense heat of Red's flaming aura, but no matter, for Red jumped again to the platform Blue was standing on.

Red: "Blue. Stop."

Red spoke in a commanding tone, one that Janus had never heard before. He spoke with authority, and the strength that could lead 1000 men across 1000 battlefields. Red was indeed a leader, and almost instantly upon hearing his voice, Blue's storm began to quiet down, despite the man's anger still being evident.

Blue: "Why should I stop, Evan? Why? I want to show you that I am not nearly as weak as you think I am..."

Red: "Because this isn't strength, Blue. What you're doing right now is true weakness. What you're saying, why you're fighting the way you are, and why you are not thinking, all of these are weaknesses. And you need to remember, I've never once said you were weak, Blue. I've always considered you my equal. In many ways you're far stronger than me. In just as many you're not even close to my level. One of the reasons why you feel like you need to keep your emotions controlled and your anger bottled up is because you're mistaken about how I feel about you."

Red clapped his hand on Blue's shoulder, and at this gesture the storm completely stopped, and the sun shined down upon the arena once again. Blue was dumbfounded, as his platform floated gently to the ground. Red closed his eyes, and released enough heat into the sheet of ice that covered the sand to melt and evaporate it completely. The arena was a sandy desert once again. At this, Red turned toward DarkSlaya, and the sun gleamed down on a dyed crop of red hair, which, along with nearly every grain of sand in the area, glimmered in the desert's light.

Red: "DarkSlaya, was it? You've been putting up an excellent fight against Blue. I'd like to extend my congratulations to you personally for lasting this long without being reduced to a block of ice. That said, I'm wondering, really, if Blue's still in any condition to fight. He seems so, as well as you, so I am giving you the option of continuing this battle. If not, we will formally retreat from the field. If you wish to continue fighting him, then by all means, say so."

Red turned and walked past Blue, nodding to him and springing high into the air, back into the box where he, Janus, Green, and Grey were spectating. When he got back inside, landing neatly on the tiles of the room, Janus looked over to him with an impressed glance.

Janus: "You're a good man, Evan."

Red: "So's he."

DarkSlaya: This is.....rather unexpected.

DarkSlaya had heard that Blue was a person who was perfectly capable of controling his anger. He mopcked Blue only to see if the rumors were true.

DarkSlaya: I guess I was mistaken..... Nobody is capable of fully controlling his anger.....
Ugh...

DarkSlaya got on one knee. Stopping Blue's attack weakened him, to say the least... He could only stand on a platform, looking at Blue as his anger was slowly taking the best of him.

DarkSlaya: Now, now.... Who do you think you're going to defeat with your anger? Yourself, maybe?

DarkSlaya was obviously trying to reason Blue. He didn't want to fight someone blinded by anger.

Blue was a roiling mass of rage now... The sky opened up, as the Oracle's Pyramid adjusted itself to Blue's current emotional status...

-----------------------

Red: "Crap!"

Blue had gotten angry. That wasn't good. Blue never got angry. DarkSlaya had to ahve embarassed Blue pretty badly. Red knew full well how strong Absolute Zero was, and to have it so easily defeated by DarkSlaya had to have been a huge shot to Blue's already crippled ego...

It was only logical what would happen next.

Red: "Janus! Jason! Grey! GET DOWN!"

-----------------------

As the four of them hit the deck at Red's beckoning, an explosion of ice rocked the arena around them, and the ground broke into a mass of floating shards of ice! Standing at varying levels, the massive chunks of ice were large enough to be counted as platforms, the highest of which Blue stood on, looking down at DarkSlaya. An aura of ice surrounded him, swilring faster than ever. Lightning struck from a pitch black cloud in the sky that covered the entire arena, hitting a block of ice, causing a small explosion, and eerily illuminating the pissed-off Agent's sunglasses. For a split-second, Blue's icy stare was visible through the dark lenses.

Blue: "Do. Not. Mock. Me."

DarkSlaya wasn't affected as much by the ice as Blue thought. His training prepared him for that kind of thing. But the real reason was his blade, which was now Ice elemental.

DarkSlaya: Nice, now I'll be able to skate for awhile.

DarkSlaya was obviously mocking Blue. As he saw Blue concentrating, he decided to go and try to finish him off, as it was a golden opportunity. But as he prepared to strike, he felt something....

DarkSlaya (whispering): No, I shouldn't attack.... There's something that's more wrong than anything I encountered in this battle.

DarkSlaya: What are you up to, Blue?

As DarkSlaya's grab threw Blue off-balance, Blue's fist headed straight for the ground, effectively freezing the sand of the arena's floor into a thin layer of solid white ice! Certainly, the sun would melt the ice after a few moments, but until then, it was time to slip and slide away.

Which Blue did, of course, taking a dive onto his stomach and underneath DarkSlaya's blade. He rolled onto his feet, his legs quivering as he struggled to maintain his balance on the sheet of ice which covered the ground. He pushed his sunglasses up his nose, and positioned them meticulously, livid.

Blue: "That... should not... have missed..."

The man was clearly pissed. While the ice was still covering the ground, Blue shut his eyes tightly and began to focus harder than ever. Though DarkSlaya could not feel it yet, the ground was beginning to quiver...

[OOC]Sorry if mislooked the attack at first... that's when you see the extents of my english + Fast reading [/OOC]

DarkSlaya used both his hands to block Blue's attack. He carefully grabed it so he wasn't too close to the coldest spot. He then deflected to punch so it wouldn't it anything.

DarkSlaya: Remind me of never try to block an attack like this again.

DarkSlaya looked at his half-frozen sword, he couldn't believe that it could be repelled like it was.

DarkSlaya: Wait a minute!! I know!

DarkSlaya his sword back, but didn't remove the ice on it. He had an idea and he knew it's chances to work would be good.

DarkSlaya: Ever heard of the saying "Fight fire with Fire"? I'm gonna do the same!

DarkSlaya rushed at Blue, with his Frozen Edge (as he decided to call his blade that was half-frozen).

DarkSlaya: Now, this will be interesting.

As the blade was pushed backward, Blue surged his fist forward, releasing the cold and removing all of the kinetic energy surrounding his fist from the immediate area... If DarkSlaya didn't do something, Blue's fist would certainly connect. Considering his fist had, at this point, enough power to freeze the ground of the entire arena, there was a touch more than a slight chance that DarkSlaya wouldn't want to be hit.

Blue: "I'll show you the true extent of my abilities!"

------------------------------------------------

Red: "Janus, he's gone insane!"

The man's glasses nearly fell off his face as he watched Blue grapple with DarkSlaya's sword. Blue was crazy, to be using a technique like Absolute Zero in an environment like this... With the heat of the arena, not only would it be insane to maintain it, but at the same time...

"Wait... Wait, I think I understand now..."

Janus: "Oh?"

Red: "Yeah! Think about it! It's so hot in the arena, how would something as cold as John's attack feel?"

Grey: "It'd probably be about a million times worse than having ice put down your shirt in the middle of the summer..."

Red: "Exactly!"

His expression changed from one of fear to one of excitement... He called to mind immediately his battle with Jarukoth, at one point a long time ago. Jarukoth had used a technique on him, where he had forged a ball of energy in his hand. Remembering the painful wound in his chest that had resulted, Red equated the force of the blow easily with Blue's Absolute Zero technique. Blue had the power, for sure.

The truth of the matter was, Red didn't seriously believe Blue was weak. In fact, he considered Blue a great deal stronger than himself. He felt Blue lacked, if anything at all, confidence. But this... This wasn't confidence. This was arrogance. Perhaps that was why Red, not Blue, was the leader of the team. If Blue had power, would he abuse it? Would he prove to be a weak leader, no matter how strong his mind was? How strange, that he should feel the need to prove himself to Red. Why?

Red's eyes fell to the ground. Had he given Blue a need to prove himself? Perhaps the flaw, then, was in Red. Perhaps Red had lorded his own abilities to an extent where Blue could contain himself no longer. Strange, it was. But stranger still, that Blue would prove his abilities not in a battle with Red, but in a battle with someone else.

Janus: "Thinking about something, Evan?"

Red: "Yes.... I am. One thing I do know, though, is that Blue needs to stop, and he needs to stop soon."

Janus: "The mind of a warrior is much more complex than it seems, Evan. Especially when the warrior is also a scientist."

Red: "True..."

DarkSlaya: This time, I'll really know if this sword is as strong as they say!

DarkSlaya took a defensive position, but different from how he'd normally stand. It seemed that he didn't use this weapon for a long time, and that he wasn't quite sure to be able to counter attack properly.

DarkSlaya: I..I..I can handle it.

For one of the first time of his life, DarkSlaya experienced a form of fear.... first time since the 'incident"

DarkSlaya: Yes, I can!!

DarkSlaya blocked Blue's punch... or so it seemed. The attack was beggining to freeze the blade, and soon pushed DarkSlaya back. The sword was repelled and DarkSlaya was now nearly down for the count.

Red raised another eyebrow at Blue's technique...

Red: "He hasn't used that one in a long time. Not since that day he met with Schwa, actually..."

Janus: "I remember it. He never actually hit me with it, you know. Came close, though. And even then, it nearly gave me frostbite."

Blue's ice encasement melted into the ground, revealing the suited warrior in the hot desert sun. His arm glowed a light, icy blue, and the water vapor in the air froze and dropped to the ground around it, melting instantly on contact with the sand. The melted water sent steam into the air, which evaporated and left the arena with a very high level of moisture in the atmosphere.

Blue: "-273.15 degrees Celsius... The coldest temperature known to man. No heat, whatsoever. A total lack of kinetic energy."

He stepped toward DarkSlaya. A sword would prove to be an interesting defense against this...

"In an atmosphere like that, one would flash-freeze instantly on exposure. Goodness, it only takes -50 degrees Celsius to make one's saliva freeze in midair after being spit out of the mouth."

Blue stopped about twenty feet away from DarkSlaya, and lowered his arm in front of him, pointing an open palm toward the ground. The material on his suit actually started to wear from the intense cold...

"Is my arm that cold? I cannot really say. I would appreciate it, however..."

At this, he took off at a sprint towards DarkSlaya, rushing him and holding his arm back, palm open, ready to strike!

"If you would find out for me! Absolute Zero!!!"

As he reached DarkSlaya, Blue swung his arm forward, striking at DarkSlaya with a palm charged with enough cold to freeze a redwood tree!

DarkSlaya: Something's wrong, again. I hate this feeling....

DarkSlaya was feeling that Blue was preparing something... but he couldn't firgure out what. After all, everything was gone.... the battlefield was like in the beggining.

DarkSlaya: I won't be needing this anymore....

His fiery aura then disapeared.... again.

DarkSlaya: I'll stop holding back my attacks.... I'll stop delaying them. There's no point at going softly at each other.... and the crowd seems to be getting sleepy. Of course, I'm starting to figure you out... but I think you're doing the same for me. Wait a minute..... are you even listening to me?

DarkSlaya saw Blue concentrating.... and saw the cold that was around his foe's hands.

DarkSlaya: *sight* I guess not.

DarkSlaya drew his sword, which he didn't touch at all during the battle... In fact, he hasn't used it in a long time, from how the sword looked.

DarkSlaya: This sword looks old, doesn't it? You might think so, or might not, but the fact remains that it is more powerful than my other weapons. I've been seeing what you're doing... and there's no doubt that I'm going to need all I've got

Blue (thinking): 'I cannot believe it... He is actually going along with this? Interesting opportunity....'

Blue straightened out of his fighting stance, his sunglasses locked onto DarkSlaya...

Name: DarkSlaya
Age: ??
Weight: Human
Type: Humanoid
Resistance to Cold: Flame Elemental
User Analysis: . . . . Tactical advantage suggested. . . .

"I see..."

Blue closed his eyes, and extended his right arm outward, as the rainstorm stopped, and a sunny day overcame the heated arena once again. In a moment, the sand dried up, and the humidity radiated off the ground as it did before.

As he no longer had to keep his focus on the Ice Golem, and he had a hunch that DarkSlaya would refuse to attack him, Blue simply began to concentrate, enshelling himself in an ice encasement formed from the humidity in the air.

His right arm suddenly began to become very, very cold...

DarkSlaya (whispering): Something's wrong, that was too easy.

DarkSlaya's aura came back around him, providing him defense again Blue's attack. On contact, the shards melted and became pure water.

DarkSlaya: Field advantage, you say? My training included fighting warriors in their own terms, meaning the had that advantage. However, I gotta give you credit for controling yourself this well. I mean, making the field become your element was quite smart. But it seems you've put that power to upgrade your abilities. How is wasting power on giving yourself power gonna help you. That golem of yours was merely a waste of time and energy, unless you had something else in mind. Seeing how good of a tactician you are, that gotta be it.......... Oh my! I talked too much, again.

His aura disapeared again.... DarkSlaya was gonna fight without it, and he knew he could put up a fight without it.

The hacks and slashes ripped chunks off of Blue's golem, and it was plain to see he was having difficulty keeping it together, as every separated chunk invited a repair stemming from the rest of the golem's body.

Blue: "You have guessed correctly, my foe!"

As soon as DarkSlaya's sword next connected to the golem's body, it burst into pieces, as Blue dropped into the mud and the rainstorm raged around him. The shards of ice collected around Blue, much smaller than before, and much sharper, as well, almost as though the round iceballs had acted as broken glass snow-globes. Blue's golem had been defeated rather easily, but the scientist was undaunted. He exclaimed confidently to DarkSlaya as the sharpened pieces of ice began to swirl around him again...

"You fail to see the obvious advantage I have in this environment, and that is what will lead to your defeat at my hands! Unless you can figure out how to use the terrain to your advantage, as I have, you will most certainly be cut to shreds!"

Blue's words, however, were much more effective than his attacks. As he said this, the swarm of shards was sent straight at DarkSlaya, though individual cuts like those were sure to do almost nothing to DarkSlaya's natural defenses. Nevertheless, Blue couldn't let DarkSlaya call his bluff.

Not at this point, anyway...

DarkSlaya: Don't play dumb on me, I know you're preparing something. You're not stupid, but yet you continue to counter with ice. I won't fall for it.

DarkSlaya's aura disapeared. He didn't want to risk a surprise attack.

DarkSlaya: I'll have to find a way to make sure there's nothing you can do. But for now, I shall hack 'n slash until you're weak!

DarkSlaya ran toward Blue with his sword in front of his face to block a quick attack.

Indeed, DarkSlaya's reasoning was perfect! The fist that hit him was quite crippled, a melted shadow of what it once was...

Blue: "Impressive, but it will take more than that to defeat my ice golem!"

Suddenly, pieces of ice from all around the body help to reform the hand! It's a good thing Blue's got that ice cockpit to keep him cool, or he'd be sweating his suit off with the focus he's taking this battle to...

Oddly enough, however, the ice golem seems somehow smaller than it was before... As though the pieces of ice actually WERE taken from the rest of its body...

"I hold no fear for fire!"

The golem leaps into the air and lands hard in front of DarkSlaya, sending a rush of newly formed mud from the rainstorm at him!

At this point, Red is getting increasingly interested in Blue's fighting style...

Red: "This is strange... Blue knows full well how to deal with fire, why is he matching DarkSlaya's attacks with more ice?"

Janus: "Maybe he's concentrating all of his energy on impressing us, rather than performing well in the battle."

Red: "Hmph, that's selfish of him..."
