It's nice to see you guys really looking forward to my hack. It makes all my work worth it. I just hope you aren't let down if my gameplay sucks, though I sincerely doubt it will. I'm going to have my close friends run through the demo once it is done, and we'll see what they say.

Anyhow, here's an idea that I came up with, tell me if sounds good. For my switch palaces, it would make things more interesting if I set it so you lost all your current coins upon entering, and you had to collect all of the poker chips to get to the switch. Would it be too terribly frustrating to lose all of your current coins and having to (possibly) search an entire level for wayward coins, or would that be an interesting idea? I'm also willing to take alternate suggestions if this doesn't float your boat. Maybe I could utilize the key and locked boxes from block inserter instead, or something else entirely.

Yeah, but this really has a special feeling because the GFX are original and not just rips.

Dude. DUDE. That's lovely.

I think most stuff like that fit in with SMW; but then again, I've played a lot of hacks, so my mind might just be accustomed to seeing un-Mario-like graphics.

Concave, eh? I just might do that. If it turns out right when I try, that is.

And in a fit of boredom, I replaced the coin in the Palace with a spinning poker chip. I think it looks really cool, tell me what you think. It also comes in the same colors as the big poker chips from my earlier screenshots, black and blue.

And for a screenshot of what the chips look like in action (unanimated, sadly), gaze below.

Amazing. I like how in the background the checkerboard jumbles up into a tessellation instead of a boring old diamond formation. Diamond looks too convex, try to make it either straight or concave, whichever looks better.

Here's an updated picture of the Casino Palace (name still in question, but I like it).

You can see the new dice, the new background, and the new diamond pole. I'm not too sure about the diamond, but everything else looks a lot better. I think the colors will change between each Palace, but we'll see how it looks with different palettes.

Well, it I think he may see it as more Sonic-ish (atleast, I do) but I Think it fits, none the less. Nice gfx, lets just hope the level design is just as good.

... which is why I only modify a few of my GFX.

Yea that's another good thing about this one. A lot of the other hacks seem to have way too many SMAS & SMW2 YI gfx used in them, a little is ok, but practically recreating Mario 1, 2, 3 or SMW2 YI with different level layouts is starting to get old.

I experimented with both styles for the chips, actually. It looks a lot better with the crazy stacks than the straight. Changing the sizes of the suits would take way too much work, with little gain, except for the diamond of course. I may just skinny up the diamond to fit the ratios better, rather than increase my work load tremendously.

Those switch palaces look really good. Just a few comments; Could you increase the vertical distance of the suit pillars? I mean, the suit icons themselves, not their stands. 32x24 pixels would look good, I think. Right now it just doesn't look right, especially the diamond.

Secondly, while it looks less blah, you really shouldn't have the chip stacks not completely vertical. It looks... strange. And if you've seen poker chips, you know they have little bumps around the edges which make them fit into each other to keep them straight and balanced.

I like the whole Candy & Card idea (and what ever else is to come that follows these kind of ideas).

It looks very good, you have a creative sense of level/gfx desing.

New switch palace graphics.

Notice how it isn't candy themed this time. That's because I intend to use the same graphics for all of the switch palaces to save on space, and because I'm not sure how well the other world themes will fit into unique switch palaces. But anyhow, the switch palaces will have a casino theme, for no reason now but I'm sure I'll have a story reason before the demo release.

Anyhow, the first screenshot shows the suit poles, I might add a decorative fence between the poles for extra effect. Next, you can see some dice, I expect them to gain more detail, and even possibly be expanded to 2x2 blocks instead of the 1x1 blocks they are now. Finally, you can see stacks of poker chips, in red, black, and blue. I also made it so the stacks wouldn't just be a straight column, to reduce the blandness. I'm also working on a background (obviously), but I don't have a screenshot yet.

Any comments and suggestions are accepted, so long as they are helpful.
