About ExGFX... Mixing tilesets (such as putting 1 tile wide pipes in caves instead of the bone) should be allowed. I personally think the bone tiles don't necessarily always fit in the caves.

well as far as pallettes go i think that if you only edited gfx to fix problems with the default tiles as mentioned above then thats ok but for pallettes its more of a case of what its going to be used for , because the original had no ice world or cloud world etc if someone made a new world by changing the pallettes technically its no different just a new colour , i mean you could have bowser's castle with the tileset from the first level and it wouldnt matter as long as the level was ok so really i think the final limits are this:

NO EXGFX FINAL
Gfx editing when fixing things
overworld and pallette editing , only if you dont use any home made tiles
Sprite Editing = NO
anything ive missed out?

anyway im assuming this is ok with all you guys ? when ive got the ok ill open the floor to suggestions for deadlines and the such.

Haha, it's like some kinda trippy illusion! You can see that it connects the two, and that it's not at an angle or a slope, but if you look it's apparent that the two points are at different heights and thus said bridge is impossible. Cool! Similarly, I noticed the part Mario is on is higher than the part with the ladder, which is actually pretty neat, it makes it look like a slope.
My only gripe is the left side of the bridge, where you've used the wrong ground tiles. Otherwise it's quite nice.

And BTW, if you modify the palettes so much that it looks nothing like the original, it kinda defeats the point of not editing the graphics, now doesn't it?

Pet peeve with overworlds, you have some Escher-type space going on with that bridge... Count the altitude from sea level of each side of the bridge

Also, and this isn't totally neccecary, but you need to add the 'corner' tiles for the white part of where the sea meets the cliffs.

First, this is the last post concering my hack in this thread,
This should about interested people in the contest.

Anyway, thanks Chris, it doesnt matter, its better that way, after all, this was just some goof idea.

Lastly, here is the overworld without Those colors, and this time i am asking about how do you see the layout.

Yeah, that's right. I'll be glad to see some level-only hacks. Although plenty of the advanced SMW hacks are quite good, they detract from the original, and I believe that playing level-only hacks will remind me of the classic SMW, yet allow me with a new SMW experience. However, I do have high expectations of these hacks:
1. No levels that are too similar to the original
2. No misplaced/misused objects
3. No glitched objects/sprites
4. No wacky colors

I would take part in this if someone did a new overworld, anyone want to team up ?

Because this community has been flooded with newbies who never grew tired of the SMW GFX since by the time they came everyone was using ExGFX.

Damn, how come when I was creating the concept of SMW The Lost Levels, no one liked the idea of a lack of ExGFX and a new overworld. Sigh , if hackers were this enthusiastic about level-only hacks back then, I would've continued SMWLL .

First you get an account on... Oh, let's say PhotoBucket... Then you upload the screenshots. Then you put copy the URL of the screenshots and put them in [IMG] tags (note: For some reason, Photobucket pics don't always show right when you use <img src=___>). It should look like this when you post it:

[IMG]http://photobucket.com/where your file is/your file.file extention[/IMG]

That tells the board to post what's at that address as a picture.

I'm serious, though, it looks like someone took a soiled piece of paper and drew a map on to it with crap. The green tinge, you say? He was sick at the time.

You must be putting him down with all that your saying.. I don't think thats very nice.. I mean.. Crap? That was kinda harsh.. I hope it doesn't turn him off hacking... I can't say that it was 100% w00t w00t! Good. But it did look pretty decent.

First it started as making a gameboy appearance, but then i started to like color shades, now im going to elaborate and amplify the brown color scale

I like the *idea* behind the sepia effect, but the execution needs a little work IMO.

As for the design contest, I think it's a great idea. I'm sick of all this dogma about 'hacking' and limitations from Lunar Magic and ASM hacks, really really sick of it. Gameplay is the important thing and that stems from level design alone. I would participate but I have other plans.

Eh, I've seen uglier. You should see some of the overworlds my dad used to make... Don't get me wrong, I love him, but he couldn't design anything GOOD in SMW if his life was on the line.
