Just FYI: Usually, when you open anything in a graphic editor such as TLP or YY-CHR, you'll just see garbage. You have to scroll through the ROM and find the graphics. In this case it's not a problem though, since they've been dumped into a separate file for you. (The ones in the ROM are compressed anyway, so you wouldn't be able to edit them.)

Check "Use Joined GFX Files" under LM's Options menu. This will extract all the graphics into one "AllGFX.bin" file (not an "AllGFX" folder).

Make sure you aren't opening the ROM in YY-chr. You need to open the file called AllGFX.bin that gets created by LM. To create this file you need to:

1. Open your ROM in LM.
2. Click one of the mushrooms (hold your mouse over them to see what they do. theres a set of 4. Im pretty sure its the red mushroom, but not sure). You need the one that says 'extract GFX'
3. Now open up the folder that your rom is in.
4. There will be another folder called GFX (or AllGFX, can't remember)
5. There should be 1 file called AllGFX.bin, open that file in YY-chr.
6. Now in YY-chr, chnage the mode to 4bpp SNES (drop down box at the bottom).
7. The graphics should show up, but the palette wont fit.
8. Now go down the graphics untill you see mario.
9. Edit, then save the file (remember to always keep backups incase you make a mistake)
10. Open LM and click import GFX (one of the other mushrooms)

I think thats it. Its not that hard really. And BTW, the FAQ sticky at the top of this fourm is ********REALLY******** helpful...Make sure you always check that first.

What setting do you use.

Then you either aren't opening the correct file or you really haven't tried every setting. I usually do all of my external editting in YY-CHR, and that includes Mario.

Tilelayer Pro and YY-CHR seem to be the tools of choice.
