The only background editor of sorts I know of was discussed in this thread. That was all the way back on the 12th page though There might be something else that assists you in making backgrounds now, but if there is, I don't know about it

I haven't messed around with that though, so I'm unsure of whether it's easy to use or not.

Jesper - I have popped back to lurk a little here and there over the past couple of years but now I feel like getting into back into the scene good and proper. I haven't used LM in ages; hopefully I'll remember all the fiddly stuff. The Eggvine editor is looking amazing... I don't think I'll be doing a YI hack just yet though - too complicated and really LM still has so many possibilities, especially combined with the other tools.

Karadur - Glad you liked the last demo of my hack... Though the version I'm working on is much better in every way (graphics, overworld, levels are more refined etc). The problems won't stop me making the next demo patch when I get home but they may marr finishing the project in the long run. We'll have to see. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out after posting this.

Blackhole - To say that's welcome news is an understatement, since I'm a musician myself and would love to make music for my levels... Wow...

Kirby - Yeap, I still exist, which is handy and stuff . I remember seeing some of JAMH and it is indeed excellent. I've also seen BMF's hack, I played that while I was lurking a while back, inspiring to say the least, and great fun to play.

Cpubasic - Thanks for the encouragement... Actually topping SW might be hard, because I put an insane amount of time into it, but I can but try and better myself.

So do I remember something about a tool for making backgrounds out of pictures or something like that? Please don't tell me I dreamed that because making BG's was one of the most tedious parts of SMW designing

Ok, off to tool up..

Welcome back, Sendy. Glad to hear that you are going to finish Sendy's World. I have hoped it would be completed, but then you left...

Now you are back. Yay!

Anyways, you really didn't miss anything besides what everyone else said.

And if you make a new hack, you could possibly make it better. Knowing you, you could.

Jesper and Karadur: There's accually only one sprite editor. It's a shame to count Sprite-O-Matic. Honestly, I rushed the release extremely much after I heard that HH was making one as well. The result: Yuck!

Sendy! Youre not dead

You should check out Just Another Mario Hack(JAMH) by Juggling Joker (JJ). Hes made like... hand drawn ExGFX history (In my opinion at least )

So anyways, yeah, Sendy World was on the top of my list for "Hacks to download when completed" So dont let me us down, okay?

It seems noone else is going to do the dirty work for me, so I'll actually have to do some self-reclame

I am currently working on an SMW music editor, Solar Soundtrack, which actually isn't too far away from a release (another couple of years weeks).
Since the corresponding threads drowned long ago I'll just link to some screenies.

Well, first off, let me say welcome back, even though you left before I joined this board I played the demo of your hack, and it's quite good, although this isn't a thread for the discussion of it, so I'll get back on topic. The most notable things (in my opinion) that have been released, etc. while you were gone would have to be:

:: A New Demo of Super Mario Odyssey
:: Super Mario World Reconfigurator
:: Sprite-O-Matic 1.0
:: New News on jSMWDev

I'm looking forward to playing the rest of your hack, so hopefully the problems you're having with it won't affect the release of a patch

We now have 2 sprite editors. I have tried to do exciting stuff with exactly 0 of them. And we also have a SMW2:YI editor called EggVine, but go to ROM hacking for that.

And it's high time you came back

I am staying in America for 3 months and I decided to have a look at this place again and maybe think about starting a new SMW hack. Also, I'm going to release Sendy's World when I get back home (In about 2 months time), but I will be releasing it with all the slowdown problems caused by the custom blocks. I am still really sad about that, because as it stood, I was told I had to replace ALL the blocks in my hack by hand and try a new patch, and after that, it might not even improve

But it's certainly playable (mainly due to huge enemy thinning and optimization) even with the slowdown and if people like it I may try and debug it, maybe with some help from others, and then finish the sumbiotch.

So what are the latest revelations round here? I've read the last couple of pages but don't really have time to do much more. Are there any new tools I should be aware of if I start SMW hacking again? And more importantly, how are my old SMW buddies?
