I was confused by that last post cause I saw that episode (mind you I dont really watch DBZ in Jap.) Then I remembered that the first place I saw DBZ was on my local spanish network, so I got to see the beginning until the Frieza saga uncut but in spanish.

But I've heard people claim that the original Japanese version of the series is much better in every aspect compared to our American port and what Toonami airs.

Is it true? Do you even care?

I'm in the belief that sure, maybe it has more blood, more cussing, than what we get dubbed and edited here, but is it still even worth checking out if you've seen the majority of the original, and have basically lost interest in the series?

One thing I remember was that the original introduction of Gohan is allot more showing then the US version. (his cute little butt, and the 'bird' family that Goku looks over)

The level of blood in Fist of The North Star makes Akira look like Seseme Street.
I watched FoTNS with those red and blue 3d glasses, the exposions were so cool!!

DBZ uncut just has funnier dialogue and a little more cursing. The blood upping is minor, not like Fist of the Northstar at all (someone I know always makes the connection). It is still just as crappy as it was before.

Now, Robotech (The Macross Saga) is a show that kicks ass dubbed, uncut or subbed.

Well, a lot of series are generally a little better in their unedited, Japanese format, if it even is as little a thing as better voice acting and translation

However, I find it hard to believe that Dragonball Z could be significantly better because of it.

As for what got me into anime, I used to like a bit of Sailor Moon and stuff, but I wasn't a huge fan. Neon Genesis Evangelion is what got me into anime.

Well, I don't even have seen the english version of DBZ... Only the spanish translation, I give them a 10 because the voice acting is just awesome if you compare it with 95% of other spanish translation in here and because real spanish programs here, have that M

Yeah, I started with Sailor Moon too. I mainly watched it because of those demons.

I have Love Hina on my computer. I have Full Metal Alchemist.

hmm...how about this road to liking anime: Sailor Moon, Ah! My Goddess, Love Hina, Vandread... Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors) and DB/DBZ made a few appearances but not that much of an influence until after Vandread

Only 80%?

I'm a 110% sure it would suck, more than an Eva live action film.

I can't really say I owe my anime craze to DBZ ... I actually started off with Transformers, Voltron, and weird stuff like that.

If it wasnt for DBZ I might have never even gotten into Anime. When I found out CN:Toonami had DBZ I got cable ASAP, and from there I started watching all types of Anime.

Im 80% sure a live action movie will stuck, but youd better believe that ill be there on the first to watch it.

Well, can you blame me for liking it when it was the first anime/manga I ever saw/read?

You heard correct Melvin. That was in one of the episodes where Vegeta is living at Capsule Corp and training in the gravity chamber. It was pretty hilarious.

The Japanese version of DBZ has alot of blood and cussing. Which is better becuase when people fight to the death Im pretty sure they would bleed and cuss from time to time. Other than that the music is different, to me its sounds like something youd only hear in the 80s in Japan. I kinda like it though.

Im no purist though so I prefer to watch it in English I dont really think the voice acting is really all that bad...sure its corny at times but thats what makes it DBZ.

I can see why, but it's a picture of Davis from the character select screen in Little Fighter 2.

To no offense Kjouji ... but whenever I glance or look at your avatar I think of DBZ.
