NSNick, did you install the All-in-one extension in a specific way or use a specific version of Firefox? If you didn't remove Firebird first, you WILL have problems. It's generally recommended to uninstall versions older than 0.9 instead of installing it "on top of" the old version, and moving your profile folder ("C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Firebird\Profiles") to another place to make sure it doesn't use the old data which may mess up the setup. There's enough new stuff and other polish in Firefox to make it worth your while, and in fact a wizard pops up at first launch allowing you to import stuff from your old profile folder such as bookmarks and old settings. (I'm afraid you're going to have to reinstall all your extensions, but after this it should be smooth sailing as 0.9 and later made extension support way more robust, and also handles upgrades - both of Firefox and individual extensions - better.)

"I indeed liked it, but when my IE got fixed after its registrys being rewrote cause of a virus, I noticed alot of things IE could do like Mini Pic sizing and stuff, that Mozilla counden't." If you're referring to the "resize images larger than browser to fit in it", Firefox has that, I think by default too. The only thing that jumps out at me that IE does have that Firefox doesn't is ActiveX, but the technology is so riddled with exploits and security issues that unless you REALLY MUST use it, it's probably best to use another browser. Besides, if you have only two or three sites using ActiveX, there's nothing stopping you from doing the majority or your browsing from, say, Firefox, and then use IE only for the ActiveX sites.

"I go to watch my StrogBad emails and when I get to the end I usually hit Tab to highlight the hidden clickables, BUT NO! Firefox selects the WHOLE WINDOW! Therefore making me have to look for my secrets...Also when I was using it the other day, it kept not showing pics on the boards!"
The tab problem sounded like either an issue with the Flash plugin or that the Flash movie hadn't gotten focus, and sure enough, like Smallhacker said:
"Accually, you can use the "Press tab to see buttons" thingey in Firefox as long as you click on the movie before pressing Tab."

Which pictures did it not show on this board? I've never heard of pictures being hidden because you use Firefox and not Internet Explorer, and as a long-time web developer I know that it's possible to hide pictures from specific browsers but that means that the web site maintainer must have this arranged specifically.

Frankly, I'm surprised they (the extension's developers) haven't updated it yet. Perhaps shoot off a nastygram to the developers....? Or grovel. Grovelling is more likely to work...

Aye. All-in-one gestures wouldn't install for me. Oh well, Firebird works just fine.

Opera has mouse gestures built in, but Firefox needs an extension.

And yeah, I was gonna say that spelling gestures right would prolly help...

Spelling "gestures" right helps

NSNick: I don't think Firefox has mouse gestures built in. Check out the "All-in-one gestures" extension. That's what I use, anyway. (You can even turn on trails for the gestures, which was kind of interesting before it got old and I turned it back off. Still useful.)

Hmm... I just googled "Mouse geustures" and I dident find anything. You wouldent happen to have any links to things like that would you?

Mouse gestures are the shit. By holding right-click and moving the mouse, you can use shortcuts such as closing a tab, opening a link in a new tab, minimizing, switching tabs, etc. Makes browsing a lot easier, in my opinion.

Ugh...Mouse gestures? Whats that? Anyway. No I havent tried Opera but I have tried Mozilla. I indeed liked it, but when my IE got fixed after its registrys being rewrote cause of a virus, I noticed alot of things IE could do like Mini Pic sizing and stuff, that Mozilla counden't. Well, I might try Mozilla again sometime. But hows Opera? Any good for a fast connection on a slow Pc?

Actually, I just tried using Firefox, and couldn't get the mouse gestures to work, so uninstalled it. But I like Firebird (also Mozilla) because of mouse gestures and tabbed browsing. IE now pisses me off when I try to use it because of its lacking in these two areas.

Well, you're allowed to hate Firefox, that's your prerogative.

I like Firefox, and I don't like to use IE. That's my prerogative. In fact, I am happy to use Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Camino, Opera or Safari before I use IE. I won't use Netscape at all though if I can help it.

The biggest advantage that ALL of the alternate browsers I mentioned have over IE is security. They don't have ActiveX in them, and they don't have vulnerabilities that lead into the very core of Windows. Spyware doesn't use the other browsers to hijack your PC.

Then there's things like tabbed browsing, which all of those browsers have. Extensions, which allows you to customise Firefox, etc, etc.

There are a lot of advantages that Firefox has over IE. But if you don't like it, well... like I said, that's your prerogative. Perhaps try another alternative browser if you didn't like Firefox? like Mozilla (vanilla mozilla, not firefox mozilla), or Opera?
