So just installing the new one as master shouldn't have any problems? Cool, that's how I was gonna do it. I probably won't bother with Linux, I never use it anyway.

Well.. you'd have two copies of Windows, but only one would be bootable. Make your current hard drive as a slave once you get your new disk. Now, install Windows normally. You won't get into any trouble. You can't install on the slave, nor can you install on a logical partitions. Those are some limitations of Windows setup. You can boot WinNT that's installed on any drive, however. So if you set up your boot just right, you can still boot your old partition with XP

I'd say to just copy files over... then reformat the old partition for more space. With Mandrake, use SystemRescueCD or Knoppix or something to edit its /etc/fstab file to boot it again. You'll have to reinstall LILO or GRUB once you use its setup CD to boot back into the partition (after editing /etc/fstab). I know there are partition managers that resize ext2/ext3. I'm not sure about reiserfs, though... so if you plan to have the slave as your Linux drive only and are using reiserfs, sorry about not knowing.

So chances are, one way or another, I'm going to get a new HD soon. When that happens I intend to install Windoze directly onto it (nice clean install), then copy all the files over from this one, leaving it in for whatever other stuff I need. The problem is Windoze is already installed on this one. Would there be problems trying to install on another HD when one already has it? (To make things more complicated, this one actually dual-boots Mandrake 9.1 too. )

BTW, I'm talking about XP Pro. Should probably mention that.
