ill give em a call today, but yea, it doesnt happen if I download things from the internet, only p2p software...so it makes no sense, and its not the isp, cause it never happened on my other computer...

edit:well...ive tried a few things.....and I switched over from a network cable, to using a USB connection, the modem has it built in, and so far, it hasnt reset itself....so I think it was the network card...connecting with the usb, it doesnt need the network card, so its working fine now it seems...

Mine resets occasionally but I've never noticed a pattern to it. They could be blocking the ports, but I would also guess you're using too much bandwidth up or down... possibly too much for the modem to handle even. (Of course it could be defective, or both. )

Make sure your ISP dosn't block things like that, though why they would confuses me...

Anyway, if it only fails while using a P2P client, that makes no sense (unless the above is true, but like I said, I doubt it)

Try calling your ISP about it, but only mention that it goes down when you try downloading something; I've never heard of a moden doing that

Well, Technically its not hardware or software, but it is whats causing it....

ever since I got my new PC, its seems like whenever im downloading anything, like from a p2p program like shareaza, or something like bittorrent, my cable modem periodically resets itself, and I can access anything on the internet until it connects again...anyone know anything?

btw, im using XP with SP2
