Yea, it pretty much is. It introduces the major players in KH2 (DiZ, Axel, Twilight Town) and hints at what's undoubtedly going to be a major plot point in the next game (the "other side"). It doesn't go too far it depth - most likely, a person would be able to play KH2 without CoM and not be lost - but it does give a tantalizing hint of what's to come.

And I played the game on a ROM, so I had the advantage of savestates. But I noticed that it would most likely be a very difficult game without savestates, though. And from what I've heard so far... that suspicion seems confirmed. There is a lot of strategy, though, that I didn't get until I was on Riku's quest... perhaps I would manage better if I went back and redid things.

That's some spoilerage right there, y'know

There isn't too much strategy involved during the normal battles. I think the true strategy would be setting up the deck perfectly to help you out... and the boss battles.

I used Kirbs advice to KA-WHOOP! Riku 4 and Larxene 2. I used non stop Slieghts until I had like 5 attack cards left, then I just kept breaking everything they threw and giving them 3 seperate attack while they were stunned it worked beautifully....then I had to fight Marluxia....I didnt get owned as I bad as Riku owned me but I lost like 3 times in a row...in a fit of frustration I made a deck of 10 cards....all 0 value. 7 attacks a 3 cures. I used the cures to cance all his super moves and used keyblade cards to cancel any single card he threw at me...basically I was an all out counter attack battle.

I played a little with Riku and I loved it!!!!! He just plain fights better.

Heh.. that Earthbound comment sounds familar... I did the same thing And now I love it ;

I loved the story, and I love how laid back the second quest was. Though.. as strange as it is since the story elements were in smaller amounts.. I feel that the second quest has more meaning to the Kingdom Hearts story than the first quest... (I tried to keep that as spoiler free as I could )

That fight was sure as heck hard. It drove me crazy, since I couldn't even take him on with my berserking deck.

Eventually, I decided to create a new deck. It would be similar to the berserking deck, but just a slight bit different. There would be no premium cards, since those cards disappear after just one use. I made sure that I had atleast three rows of cards that would let me perform Sonic Blade, and atleast two of those rows should allow me to perform Sonic Blade even after I reloaded the deck (since Sleights remove the first card in the combo). I think I had stuck in one row of Cloud cards (letting me use Omnislash atleast once). After the Cloud cards, I'd have one row of Cures. Then came in two hi-potions, which brought back my lost attack cards. Then I just filled in the rest with attack cards with 0, used to cardbreak his Sleights as well as any possible chance of him using any item cards. Having those 0 cards at the end allowed me to remember where they were so I can quickly get to them without skipping 'em.

I found that if I needed to use a cure card or hi-potion card, I'd have to use it in a combo, so that Riku couldn't easily cardbreak. Or I can just wait for him to reshuffle his deck before I use a cure or item card.

I hope my tactics would give some of you insight. I know it should give Sion some, since I know he didn't pay attention to what premiums do, and item cards

I tried against Riku the fourth time at Lv. 45 and could stop his chaining from going and was good enough to hack a good life bar off him but after that I'd get my ass handed to me.

I should just Arcanum him to death with a bunch of 1 cards.

Dracoon, I said the same thing about Earthbound. Six years later, I regretted putting it down.

And to make sure I'm still on topic, I'm interested in the plot: They say it's a bridge between KH and KH2, is it really? Does it expand on the symbolism and stuff in KH, or is it just an extension with some of the same characters?

Because unless you have a bunch of level 9 cards you have no chance. By letting him waste his cards and countering everything he does with 0s works though... I refuse to play the game anymore though, it pisses me off.

I feel weak... I am only done with the second floor... of course I just bought the game today... I like the battle system, but I think it is better to have a low amount of slieghts so you can survive longer in boss battles. I don't use slieghts in boss battles unless I have to, and I still refrian.... (2 high level cures help, I replenish my cards alot already...)

EDIT = This game sucks don't buy it...

I've never played the original kingdom hearts either, it's just a simple game o.o probably why it's so damn fun; as for draining bosses, it seems most of the tough ones have megalixers to get all their cards back, so draining might take longer than you think

Some of us aren't even THAT far yet. For people who haven't played KH (like me) it takes a while to get used to everything.

Pity that you can drain bosses down to nothing if they keep using sleights. Worked for me before though.

not just for omnislash, riot richotche [or wtf ever it's spelt] is a nice technique too. you should have your deck arranged so that sleights are already set in, with some nice megalixers at the end of the deck, so you can whoop more ass .

about 5 floors through rebirth mode now, has anyone else tried this? love the dark style

I just started fighting Riku. Ive fought him twice and both times it was a breeze. The story for me is comprehendible so far and VERY interesting. The card battle system was ok at first then it got REALLY annoying and then I built a really good deck so now its awesome. I LOVE THIS GAME!!

I guess ill try and explain the game too....Simple Style
Your in a Castle Oblivion...a strange castle where people forget there useless memories and regain thier most precious memories.
Each floor is a world Sora has visited.
You have a deck of up to 99 cards, but that limited on your CP (Card Points) Its like MP for the cards. EX: your max cp is 10, so your deck can have a total of 10 CP, like 2 cards of 5, or 5 cards of 2. Its like that.
You use L and R to cycle through the cards. If the oponents card is higher than yours your card wont work, you can also combine up to three cards for super moves.

Thats pretty much it, after some getting used to its pretty awesome.
