Yeah, It's the one labelled Vaati Reborn. Luckily, though, Fyxe has agreed to make an animated .gif of it upon reaching that area of the game.

Well, I didn't find an animated gif, but is the sprite you're looking for in here?

Something of a bump? Perhaps, But, I simply must say that my god Vaati is hella 1337, even if the game attached is way too short (I beat it same day I got it.)

Incidentally, could someone possibly make an animated .gif of the first form of Vaati you fight with the giant eye not visible, with him just in his hovering in place animation? I'd be ever-so-appreciative.

Yeah, I completed it pretty fast too. But did you also find all the chests? Get all the heart pieces? Did you fuse Kinstones with a lot of people? These are all things wich enhance the gameplay/gametime by a lot.

Edit: I forgot the upgrades for weapons and such.

Edit 2: You actually need to use the Gust Jar and Mole Mitts in quite some places :o But only if you're going for all the items/kinstone fusions/etc

NOTICE: THIS POST CONTAINS LOTS AND LOTS OF SPOILERS. DON'T READ IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON BEATING THE GAME.

(forgive the bump but I figure it's better to post in an old thread than posting a new one -- that, and the fact that this post is nearly 1/4th of this thread now)

It came out recently, and I got it a few days ago. It was, sadly, not worth the money. I finished it in under 3 days (that's less than 10 hours total), and even the oldest GBC game offered a longer adventure than that.

The ending left much to be desired (a 30 second ending sequence, mostly text, and then credits? uh, no) and the final boss reminded me of the Nightmare from Link's Awakening (must've been the giant eye and two spiked arms)

The rediculously small map wasn't that great (less than almost every other GB Zelda, hell, it was probably smaller than the original Zelda)

A lot of items in taht game were only used once or twice and then left to rot (Namely, the Gust Jar and Mole Mitts; you never use either past the dungeon you get them in, though you use the GJ in one of the boss battles and the Mole Mitts for a shovel)

The lack of dungeons left much to be desired; only 5 or six (Wind Ruins, Wind Palace, D. Hyrule Castle, the mines, Deepwood Shrine, and mabye the ice one) actually existed, and they were usually pretty easy.

Music was pretty good, though the In-house music was the worst song I've ever heard. The Royal Crypt (no, it's not a dungeon, don't get your hopes up; it's only 3 rooms) has the best Zelda song ever, except for Link's Awakening L0 theme.

Graphics were above average, though a little bit too kiddy for my tastes (I prefer the more darkish type graphics myself; once again, the Royal Crypt accomplishes this with its torn rugs and overall kinda creepy feel), and could be improved. Most characters look like they have a permanent face on them, and the two shopkeepers (The one who runs the Zelda: Oracle series type chest game and the one who runs the figurine shop) both look ugly.

The puzzles were mostly a letdown; at most once or twice did I ever get confused, and that was becuase I made an error by overlooking something obvious.

The plot was average. Standard story involving evil sorceor (Gannon, Vatti) taking object of power (Triforce, The Light Force) and using it to get what they want (Rule the world, rule the world)... Very few plot twists occured, and everything that did occur was in plain sight.

The difficulty of the game was saddening. OoSeason's moblin-slashing was much harder; this game was mostly about not letting you know just how to beat the boss, and once you figure it out it's a cakewalk. Hell, I managed to beat the final final final (yep) boss's last three hits (I had to retry 5 times because I fucked up a bit) with one fourth of a heart remaining. That is mostly inacceptable, especially for a seminovice player like myself.

The minigames weren't particularly amusing (Wee, I can get collectible figurines! yay!) but seeing a few of the other GB game's characters in glorious 16-bit wowness was pretty cool (namely the Oracles from, uh, the Oracle games)

The "Collect X Essences" thing is getting old; the lack of more dungeons and enemies* is sickening. Enemies are repitive and annoying. The voices, especially with a button masher like me, are agonizing.

The 'Minish' concept was somewhat interesting but again kinda ruined; for some reason your character can swim through huge rivers later in the game, but can't climb up a small ledge (such as the one that covers parts of Hyrule town; it looks more like a giant dirt blanket) but can cllimb up chimneys. Anyway, enough ranting, on with the graphs

-----------------------------------------
RATINGS
-----------------------------------------
GRAPHICS: 070/100 #############......
STORY: 025/100 #####...............
MUSIC: 095/100 ###################.
SOUNDFX: 030/100 ######..............
GAMEPLAY: 050/100 ##########..........
REPLAY: 010/100 ##..................
OVERALL: 050/100 ##########..........

Basically, it's not a must-have (far from it), but it's a decent game if you have nothing better to do then waste a few hours playing this.

I mean, puzzles you how to find new equipment and such, also the dungeons always have some puzzles like shooting the correct eye, pressing awkward positioned switches wilt multiple Links and such.

Finally, a new (non-remake) Zelda game for GBA!

I can't wait for this to come out...why are they delaying the US release until January, anyway?

Well, in the Nintendo Power magazine I got which has screenshots of this game and some info on it, it says the story is connected to the Four Swords story, so since I haven't played Four Swords yet (I NEED IT!) I really don't want to play it... yet...

Besides, I would rather play games on their home console, not in an emulator. So I am buying it when it comes out...

By the way, is the size thing really cool for those of you that have played it? Just looking and seeing an Octorock that big in a screenshot is awesome.

Yeah, it's pretty cool and involves quite some puzzles too :p

I've tried to download, it but my computer sucks. It sounds good, I loved LttP and played it a whole lot. When it comes out, I'll have $30 handy to buy it... After I get, Star Ocean 3, Budikia 3, ummm a lot of other games...

I'm sure it's just a little thing they put by the save file to show that you've completed it. Lots of games do things like it.

Personally I loved the game. Thing was it was too short (i finished it less than 2 weeks..). Must be 24 hrs of gameplay ... or a little more...not using a walktrough or anything..

But even once the game ends there are lots of sidequests that look really interesting. There are character around that u may recognize from other Zelda games(WW & OoT too). I also enjoyed the music wich was mostly OoT tunes that where revamped or slightly altered.
The Wind Waker graphics with the 'classic' Hyrule locations was an interesting mix.. I must say that Ezlo (The misish cap itself) wasn't as irritating as the old fairy companions that link has had (The obnoxious Navi... and the rather indifferent Tatl) and it's interaction with the gameplay was quite an interesting add-on for the Zelda franchise...

I will now make a comment that may be considered a spolier but i doubt so:
When you finish the game and save.. one of the triangles of the triforce appear on your saved file (although the game's plot doesn't refer to it during the whole game).. anybody knows if it's a little symbol to say 'you finished the game' or there's a way to get the other two and if so.. what the heck happens when you get the triforce in your saved file...hmmmm

Personally, while I'm all for emulation of old consoles that are hard to find, I think emulating a game before it's even out in your home country is a bit pathetic. Which is why I'm waiging until it comes out to try it.

People like Jiggly (who have torn the game to pieces and found some data) are fine (they're helping out with ROM hacking) but if you're just playing it for enjoyment, at least wait until it's out for a while, jesus christ...

---

Anyway, when it comes out, I'll consider getting it. If it's more in the LA style vs LTTP style I'll definitely get it, I wasn't too fond of Link to the Past =/

Here's the short answer to that: make me.

I actually downloaded it to see if it was any good. I liked it, so I bought it. And by the time I had the ROM is was already released over here anyway so there.

And it has been hacked? :O

I dunno, America got the DS a few weeks before Japan.

Well, seeing how the game comes from Japan, I doubt it that they would release it last in the country of origin.

Yeah. We get it LAST for some reason. First Japan got it, then a few days later Europe, then everywhere else, THEN here. I have no idea why. Payback for getting games second all the time, I guess. But then shouldn't Japan get it last and we get it just before them? I dunno.

It gets released later in America? It's already out here in Belgium :o
