Nice image, it doesn't seem have wrong colours, that's nerving if you want to resize a larger image into 11 x 11 or to edit it in that size.

I also had major problems with my minipic, the staff from Tactics Ogre. The result hardly is close to the original , but I'm using it anyway since a longer time. And it fits to the avatar and user name, since it's a mage

Actually, it's Jasc Animation Shop (I use 3.0). My brother is obsessed with making movie-length animations, usually involving Zero and something dying. He used to use GIF's, but he complains about the altered colors. Then he changed to AVI's, but they reduce the timing to multiples of 1/10th of a second. Then, he discovered MNG's. Now he's working on "Zero and Fefnir" which so far, as I've seen, doesn't involve Fefnir. Can MNG's be displayed normally in browsers as GIF's and PNG's can?

I'm surprised too!! (and thanks)

That's why I said 11 x 11 is hard to work with! It took me a while of fiddling to get it to look like a hat and not an evil red blob that was eating Tarale's head!

Yes and no, respectively. MNGs can (Multiple Network Graphics as opposed to Portable...) but good luck finding something that supports them.

I almost never see anything that would require alpha transparancy, and even then there's dithered GIF transparancy (which Acmlm's working layout uses)

PNGs lack full support in IE, so using them constantly on a webpage is a bad idea.

Photoshop supports MNGs, no? I believe imageready does...

Dithered transparency tends to not look good. Remember when my layout used it? (And I copied Acmlm's image. ) It was alright on XP thanks to the better-looking fonts, but in Win98, UGH! (I didn't actually see it in Win98 for a good while.)

Also you can probably get MNG plugins for most browsers. Problem is everyone who sees it will need one.

Anyway, it looks really good. I'm rather surprised you managed to put a Santa hat on an 11x11 sprite and have it look good.

My brother said that Jasc supports mng's. He also says, "Mercy is wasted on the weak."

It's not that hard, you just have to expect nothing too detailed. Look at my little pearl animation. Keep watching, for it doesn't do it much... Wait, PNG's can have semitransparency? Can it have animation?

Yeah, it's expired in US

But PNG is better than GIF, I always take PNG and MNG over GIF. GIF's transparency sucks, it's either transparent or not. While PNG supports semitransparency. And PNG is smaller and have a more effective compression.

The avatar looks nice, and that the minipic is using a white backround in IE dosen't annoy me. (forced to use IE in school. )

Actually, last I heard that patent expired.

Thank god, too, what kind of lame BS is that...

Yeah, you actually are supposed to get a license to use the .GIF format. This is likely why your program of choice doesn't support it natively.

No, actually not deliberately being an arse to IE users. PNG is how Pixen saves the files...

The avatar was done in Photoshop. I guess I really should export the PNG's into Photoshop and export as GIF. I just wish Pixen natively saved to GIF, it is soooo much easier to use as far as pixelling goes than Photoshop.

Course, knowing those that programmed it, it likely doesn't support GIF on purpose...

...and it's still broken in IE, even though (as far as I can tell in Opera) using no alpha features whatsoever and just you being an arse to IE users or whatever.

Regardless at least the avatar still works now, so bleh. The avatar's santa hat looks funny (the corner of it's pretty odd -- the one between the fuzzball and actual hat)...

I wonder why no one replied, though, usually your threads get tons of them

But I've made a mini Tarale icon for Xmas anyways.

The original:
Christmas edition:

I might make a Christmas Tarale later, (ie, in Open Canvas, non pixel art) but for the moment...

Bleh, it's hard to put a little hat on a picture that's already only 11x11 !!

The avatar image is easier to work with though.
