I will mention that the dark/light ammo system was, for me, very non-intuitive at first, and I didn't like it. But once I got the hang of it everything was fine.

Karadur: by new scan visor, I meant the new way the scan visor works. It's mostly a cosmetic change. You'll see what I mean.

You people are fiends. I thought I was playing this fucker like a madman. =(

Indeed the Sanctuary Temple is great and all, but I liked the organic aspect of Torvus.

I've always been a fan of organic worlds when it comes to Metroid games, and it fit perfectly.

Sanctuary Temple was a pretty detailed place though, and definitely had the coolest enemies as you mentioned the Virus'er enemies, and that huge mechanical spider boss.

The coolest boss battles though were easily the ones with Dark Samus, just as Dark Link in OoT, it's always awesome taking on an opposite of yourself.

Two questions: Are there more areas in the game than compared to Metroid Prime?

Am I the only one that's able to see what's in the spoiler area while viewing the post normally, or is it something with what happened to the board last night? I saw the spoiler heading, but highlighting it did nothing. The text that's supposed to be hidden just showed underneath it, but luckily, I have no clue what the spoilers are talking about
Doesn't drain your health. There's an enemy that, as an attack, uploads a virus to your power suit. Screws with controls and display until you reboot the power suit. BTW, there are five areas. Temple Grounds/Sky Temple Grounds, Great Temple, Agon Wastes/Dark Agon Wastes, Torvus Bog/Dark Torvus Bog, and Sanctuary Fortress/Ing Hive, and Sky Temple. Sky Temple only exists in the dark world and Great Temple only exists in the light world (no, they're not the same place) and the rest exist in both, so yeah, it's larger than Metroid Prime.

EDIT: Wow I can't count XD Six worlds. Though really, sky temple shouldn't count...

I disagree with you about Torvus being the coolest. Sanctuary is the coolest. And, the first time I got virus'd I was like "Oh holy crap what just happened."

I'm not sure if you can entirely compare the Dark World aspect to Link to the Past, but it isn't bad. Sometimes though it feels very, much the same as the Light World, just ... darker, and harder because of the atmosphere and enemies.

Not a major spoiler ... but just so you know ...
Spoiler:
Most of the places don't have an entire Dark World side to them, sometimes it's only large canyons and such, but it's still not "horrible" like a lot of people have said.

Have any questions for this game? Feel free to ask, as I'm closing in with the Final Fight at 95% of items found.

I was about to make a topic about this game myself, surprised it took so long.

This game, if you do look deep into it does feel somewhat similar to Prime, but it's still an entirely new world to explore, with new themes, and new powerups to get, worthy of being an incredible sequel.

I have a few disappointments, and these are small things:
- The Dark World themes aren't too enjoyable, unless you like Dark Weird Ambience. (very low beat stuff)
- So far, I'm expecting to beat this game quicker than it took me to beat Prime at 100%. Prime took me 20+ hours to get 100% with, while I'm at 15 hours on Prime 2 with like I said before 95%. Still though this game is nothing to pass up.
- As the statement above, items (if you're an original to the Metroid series, and are good at backtracking and looking at places) seem easy to find, I've never really had to look deep into areas to find anything here.

Other than that this game has got to be the most impressive game I've played so far this year. (still need to play MGS3, but yes I'm comparing to other games like Halo 2, Half-Life 2, etc...)

I might say overall I'd rather play Prime just because I enjoyed the enviornments more, but if you're looking for more of a challenge this game is definitely a taker, and hey, it is in fact still a Metroid game.

Torvus is easily my pick as the coolest area in this game, and packs the best theme.
Spoiler:

Not too mention Red Brinstar's remix theme for lower Torvus. ; )

Anyways like I've said again and again ... easily a 10 out of 10 game here.

I suppose I'd already have it if my BLODDY GAMECUBE HADN'T BEEN STOLEN. But yeah the demo kicked ass. The graphical style of many things feels more like traditional Metroid, and for that I am thankful. I thought Retro wasn't "retro" enough on their first release. This looks polished.

My brother have beaten it to 41%. (9 hours of gameplay so far) Both he and I think that it's great. The multiplayer mode is very nice as well, even though the frame rate with three players is a bit lower compared to two players. (We have only got three controllers, so I dunno about 4P)

Metroid Prime was pure goodness to the heart. I'm confident that Echoes will be the same.

I don't get to play my copy of the game 'till Christmas The Gamecube's mine, so when I get the game, I'm playing it for as long as I want It also helps when the TV in here doesn't work except for watching videos and playing games but I'm getting off-topic.

I've only seen a couple screenshots of it, and some movies at Gamespot. It looks really good

Similar to Metroid Prime? I would hope so; it does have 'Metroid Prime' in the title. Somewhat cooler atmospherically. Do you mean there's more atmospheres to play in, or they just look better? It could be a combination of both as well. The new scan visor. There's one more scan visor than the previous game, or it just graphically looks better? I was going to say something about the puppies, but unless you're really being serious about there being puppies in the game (which I highly doubt) I won't say anything.

The light / dark world thing sounds really interesting as well. I wonder if it is going to be like Link to the Past, where there's harder to beat enemies and such in the dark world, and harder areas to get through, etc.

I know I could've found almost all of the stuff I just asked you by looking on GameFAQs or something, but I don't want to ruin it for myself

I don't see it in the titles of any of the first-page threads, so that's justification enough for me. My thread. >=o

I haven't played very much yet because my brother commandeered the TV after a little while. So far, it seems:
-similar to metroid prime (fine with me, straight-up sequel)
-somewhat cooler (atmospherically)
-I like the new scan visor
-puppies

I hope the light world/dark world thing works out similarly to Link to the Past. I really hope that. But anyway yeah. It's neat.

I still wish there were sequence breaking, but the first one was enjoyable enough... =(
