I never experienced major problems in hacks when people placed Message Boxes in castles using Layer 3 objects, but there might be other purposes with these blocks as well than fixing that glitch only. Think about that:
Like in FPI's TSRP II you might put a blue koopa an a shell in a small gap not accessible by Mario - locked up with one of these blocks. So you might have to be damn quick to cross some Layer 3 platforms until the Koopa kicks the shell and you fall down into the lava To the left might be positioned a Layer 3 ON block to reset the flag.
The download worked very well for me in Firefox 1.0, but the link should be copied and pasted by hand into the address bar.

Hi,
actually, I never thought I'd post in here again (try to catch me on IRC or ICQ if you really want to know why ), but, there's something really useful I just couldn't keep back.
The thing I am talking about is basically some block code that can enable or disable the background layer 3 (like the castle windows). It is really useful if you can't get around using message boxes in L3-enabled castles (just place an L3-on block below the message box and you should regain L3 immediately after you fall down again, thus hitting the block). The code is a rip-off of the SMW RPG code I was working on lately and basically uses the same principle as SMW's original message box routine does for disabling it.

Read the readme (within the package) for further information. And give me notice if the link is down.
Have fun, ~Blacky. |
