It was good, but I think sequels would be destined to fail. I mean, that would be too much of a good thing.

I have a question before I go see it. Exactly how lemony is the snicket? Too much lemon may repel me from the movie.

I've never read the books, but I liked it nonetheless. My friend told me the movie was based off the first three books, but the ending of the movie was quite different. And many parts of the movie were added/omitted/modified, of course, just like any other movie based off a book.

Yeah, the movie sucked. It really wasn't anything special, it was just a regurgitation of the already odd novels.

I saw it with my school at 9:30(or close to it) this morniing, making us some of the first people to legally see it in my state...

Jesus christ the film is AWFUL! I finished reading the books and 1 am today, and was hoping the film would be loyal to the books, but it wasnt.

If you have read the books, you will notice alot of changes from the books(the children visit their house after living with olaf, the car thing never happened, ETC)
Why you could say it was an unfortunate event!

From what Ive seen its not really a family film, its very dark. Ive already got some friends who want to go see the movie, so next friday is gonna be a great day!

For my 4th hour class, we get to pick a book to read, and then write a report on it, and so i decided to read all 3 books, and when my school takes the students to the movie next friday, i would take notes on differences and things like that.

EDIT: I started "The Bad Beginning" yesterday in class, and finished it on the ride home, and i have no idea how they supposedly made a family film out of it..

Im actually gonna watch Eternal Sunshine today.

I saw a special on MTV about LS-ASUE and its only made me want to see the movie more. The sets are freakin incredible! And the characters seem extremly likeable which can be a bad thing...since this is in no way a "feel good" movie. Jim Carrey was joking about how if you want to feel good and happy you should NOT see this movie.

I cant wait until its released.

Ive never heard of the books either, but it says they are popular or something. The movie looks okay, of course its gotta be funny with Jim Carrey. I might give it a try, if someone else pays.

Just because Jim Carrey is in a movie doesnt mean its neccissarily a comedy. The idea that he could only do humor is what flopped Eternal Sunshine.

Well was Eternal Sunshine supposed to be a comedy? Im thinking A Series of Unfortunate Events is supposed to be a more humorous, stupid kind of movie that Jim Carrey does. However, I never saw Eternal Sunshine so I wouldnt really know what you mean by it flopping. Im just saying, if I saw this movie, it would be because of Jim Carrey and nothing else.

Uh yeah.. You should try to watch a movie for its plot or artistic sense, instead of what actors you like. But whatever.

and no, Eternal Sunshine wasnt a comedy. It was sort of advertised as one, tho, and people thought it was. People were expecting an idiot character to dance around like an idiot. Instead, those people saw a deep, interesting, artistic movie, and thought it was dumb cuz they didnt 'get' most of it.

So yeah, dont rent Eternal Sunshine. You'll feel like a moron and you'll redirect that into saying that you thought the movie sucked.

I may go and see this... If I can bug a few of my friends to come along with me...

Though I never have read the book series... so maybe not.

Personally, from the previews I think it looks very well done

The movie is based off the first few books....they are planning to have a whole bunch of sequals. Its trying to make Harry Potter run for its money.

The biggest reason for me wanting to see the movie is...Emily Browining , shes got enough lips for all of us!

I read a few of the books... they were mildly interesting. They seem like exactly the kind of thing that would translate into a movie. I don't hold good hopes for the movie though. =(

I never heard that there were books out about this. As for the movie it looks good but I know I won't be going to see it.

I've read the first few books, and I really enjoyed them.
Hopefully the movie will be as good, but from what I've seen they're trying to make like 8 one hundred paged books inte one movie, that's never a good idea
