I really like the screenshots from the 2nd Level and I hope you release a demo soon, because I can't wait anymore.
The GFX you made are cool.

Wow. Nice laboratory tiles. But, as for that new BG you added to the rock level...I liked it the way you had it before. Still, it's your hack, do whatever the heck you want with it.

Say...where any of those graphics ripped? If not, then, you deserve like a trophy or something.

The way I had it before were just clouds... no rocks... and no, none of the graphics are ripped. All are handmade by me.

Those screenshots of the second level look really nice The only complaint I have with them is in the second and third pictures. The inside of the 'hill' parts (the large area that's light gray) is rather plain. Maybe at little lights or shelves with stuff on them? It's your choice to do that or not though

One other thing in the last screenshot: Why does the 4th chain in the background end abruptly, or were you aware of that already?

I have added some scratch marks on them to make them from being dull, but I like the idea about the shelf. I will get to work on it.

And I am aware the chain ends, but the bottom of the chain is supposed to look... broken, but I am not too good with backgrounds...

A little bit more detail... not much, however...

Now I am on level 2...

Beginning. I fixed the tiles at the top of the screen, so don't complain.

A new Rex. It is some robot thing...

When it is squished.

Oh, and I named my hack. I got the name from a friend. It is now called Not So Mario World.

Darker plants. And I have made the Spike Rocks have a four frame animation (not seen) that makes them walk a whole lot smoother.

There's a good overworld doc here;

Hmmm... rocks on the ground... I like that idea. And I could change the palette of the Stacker Plants (that is what they are called... since I made them, I needed to name them) to share the palette of the grass on the rocks... maybe...

As for the bridge, it shares the palette as the ground, but I am making another bridge that is stone just in case I want to reused the tileset in a blueish-grey stone palette. Besides, the bridge looks wooden in this way, which is exactly what I am going for.

I think this set looks VERY good. I do agree tho, that the bridge should have its own palette. Not saying that it doesn't look good the way it is, but if it was a darker brown, or even a gray than it would look pretty cool. One thing that bothered me from the start was the 'trees'. Tthey contrast all the darkish colours with their bright green. Maby darkening them and adding a trunk would make them look better. Ssome bushes would be a good addition, even some rocks on the ground.

Well... I thought about this... and I am going to keep the bridge have that same palette. Why? If I am going to make a grey stone level, I don't want a wooden bridge. I could make a stone bridge (which I have started working on). It would be more suitible than a wooden bridge because... the wood and the stone would contrast since one is brown and one is grey (well... it would contrast to me...).

Besides, a stone bridge would be better with a stone ground than a wooden bridge with a stone ground. Rocks and wooden bridges would work as long as the rocks are the color they are here.

Yes, because there may come a point when you want to reuse that set with a completely different palette. We've already discussed one, a more bluish gray rock color. The bridge would look like total junk in that color scheme, provided it didn't have it's own palette.

Hmmm... adding some red... hmmm...

Rounded edges and a slightly reddish color.

Now I would make it grey, but this isn't stone. Just some rocks...

EDIT: Should I make the bridge a different palette?

A reddish rock feels more earthy and a grayish rock feels more stoney. It all comes down to what works best for the set.

Meh, I prefer to have rock be gray with a blue tinge. I dunno quite how to put this, but it looks more like stone than rock... I realize they're the same, but... Ugh. Just... Nevermind.

Well, don't you have a palette that isn't being used? It didn't look like they were all being used in your shots. If you're willing to send me an unlocked copy of your hack (I'm a trustworthy guy), I can try to work something out for you.

PS: Adding red to your brown shade can have pleasing results.

Looks nice. Possibly a bit too brown, but hey. It could work, I guess.
