When a whole layout is a rip from another layout, I'd think that just a post (from someone else to boot) is a little inadequate. Especially if you like the layout and 'respect' it. Also respect the person/company who made it. If it's something small like you just used a character from a game or along those lines then just saying it in the post is good if even that. But if you took all the graphics, then I think it's common courtesy to say that in the layout. Heck, people that just took code from other people (at the board, mainly) say that in their layout, and code is not something you see unless you dig.

It's not a rule, I just think, as I said above, that it's common courtesy.

Onto something else. It isn't "little" tall, it's very tall. It takes up almost a whole screen in my resolution with the window maximized. That's way too tall. There is no clear guidelines or rules to follow of that written down. But so far I think the general consensus is that above 400px is too much.

Btw, you should check in on the WoW thread in Online Gaming forum, it's stickied. We are a few people there who also were in the beta.

You said it for me. I know it is a little tall, and I like themed layouts. Sure I can make one of my own but then nobody really knows what it is. I'm all about themes, thats why I always did an FFT layout, but with WoW coming out tomorrow I thought I'd make one based on the site. I was gonna do one with the UI of the game but I didn't get a decent screen before the beta ended and I lost the rest of my screens when I uninstalled it.

I'm still messing around but this will be pretty much my standard layout.

Yeah, it is pretty high (539px), mainly because of the guardian statue. A rule of thumb would be to have the max height of 300-350px. It won't be just a "paper" layout without it, you still got other graphics there that look great. One thing that really bugs me though is that you haven't mentioned the source of those graphics anywhere. I think that's kinda unfair considering the only thing you did was add that guardian (which is also from Blizzard/WoW) in it :\

The minimum height is a bit tall as far as post layouts go.. perhaps delete the top and bottom metal bars.. that's more of a personal pickiness than anything else though.

Overall, great job.

Not sure what you mean by ? in the code, I didn't use a single one.

I could do it with the default repeat but I want that stone guy in it somehow to keep it from being a simple paper-ish layout.

EDIT: All better now, it stretches and has the stone guy w/o the effect on him.

EDIT 2: Also only 79kb now!

IE: Weird codes with ? inside a tag show up in the layout.
FF: Crappy default colour scrollbar

All in all, a kickass layout nonetheless. The vertical stretch mentioned by Jizzy would be the only addition to it

I'm guessing you use Mozilla or something other than IE cause the scroll bar matches the layout perfectly for me

I'm gonna work on it some I guess. I can make it strech and I'll try a different style with the stone guy.

Hah, a Worldofwarcraft.com rip.
You can make it stretch without a scrollbar. They have it, you can too. It'll fit better than a very mismatching scrollbar.

Edit: Oh yeah, the guardian statue doesn't look good with color burn (or equivalent), I don't think it fits with the rest of the layout.

Gah, have to wait another hour to sign up there. But if it works, I can wait.

Thanks

EDIT: There we go!

STRETCH!

Its relatively small, only 86kb

Photobucket does the job.

I thought there was a thread on this, but I'm not sure where it is.

Anyone know a host with decent bandwidth and allows image linking? I got a rockin layout but I need to get a host! Only ones I've found so far don't allow image linking

Please HELP!

EDIT: If there's a thread about this, please direct me to it.
