Ok, then... turns out the laptop has Win98, so I can just use the dos ZSNES (which is good, I don't think SMRPG worked well with SNES9x. )...

I think this list is good enough. Thanks for the help, everyone.

And Xeo: Yeah, I plan on bringing a couple utilities. Who knows, maybe this'll get me back into romhacking... especially if I somehow manage to keep the laptop.

Der Langrisser for SNES. I have the English ROM. It's awesome.(think of Fire Emblem) Great Strategy/RPG. The system is very cool and I really like it because it promotes attacks on multiple fronts.

lol, if you do go with Rom Hacks, Super Mario Bros 3: Challenge. That'll surely keep you busy and coming back for more.

What, no ROM hacks?

I suggest puzzles like Tetris Attack. They'll keep you busy for hours on end, and generally don't require you to press 6 buttons at once while waving the joystick back and forth, clicking the mouse and making a sandwich.

GBC:

- Dragon Warrior I/II or III - Both of them are remakes of the NES games, both remakes kick all kinds of ass.
- Mario Golf/Tennis - Can't go wrong with either of them. Dunno how easy Tennis is with a keyboard though.
- Any Game & Watch Gallery game - Easy time killers.

NES:
Snake Rattle 'n Roll is the best game ever made and will last you however long you need. At the very least, it's my all-time favorite game... Not sure how well it'll work on a keyboard, though...
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventures of Link

SNES:
Tales of Phantasia
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Equinox
Tetris & Doctor Mario
Tetris Attack
Yoshi's Island
Mega Man X2

GBC:
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Super Mario Bros. DX

I think Snes9x does require DirectX ... but I'm not positive, I switched over to ZSNES awhile ago.

SNES games to note (in no special order):
1. Actraiser I and II, Castlevania like, kind of.
2. Flashback and or Out of this World. Totally different side scrolling-survivel games, they take awhile to get used to but they're pretty cool. They also have SNES cinemas ... lol.
3. Seiken Densetsu 3, Secret of Mana 2 if you haven't played it yet. An incredible RPG that'll keep you busy for awhile.
4. Terranigma, another rare RPG. Very much like Zelda, but with more RPG elements and stuff. Unreleased so it's a little harder to find, developed by Enix.
5. Tales of Phantasia, if you haven't played that yet either.

I really don't know, hopefully that kind of helps you with ideas in the SNES collection here ... then again the Actraiser games, Out of this World, and Flashback could be a little harder if you're not too good playing with a keyboard

NES, just some games:
1. Adventures of Lolo
2. Elevatar, XD
3. Megaman 1-6 (and all Megaman games for SNES)
4. Kirby's Adventure
5. Blaster Master
6. Kid Icarus

And maybe some level editors and utilities if you get real board.

I'm going to my grandmother's for a week next month to help take care of things around the house after she goes in for knee surgery (my grandfather's handicapped and can't walk without help, so he can't do much either.) Since her sister-in-law sent them a laptop, I plan to bring a cd of roms over with me for something to do. And this is why I posted this thread.

I need suggestions. Keep in mind that I'm limited to a laptop keyboard for the controller. And also keep in mind that any FF games you might mention I'm gonna have with me already (1-4 rom, 5 and 6 on Playstation, as well as 7-9 and Tactics).

Also, does SNES9x require DirectX?

(I'm posting this here because it's more about the games than the emulation. Also, I can find the roms, I just want suggestions for what to look for.)
