Well, but Firefox is smaller and faster. I know since I actually used Mozilla once on a Linux computer. Then I installed the Linux version of Firefox. Which was much better.

I know it was originally forked, but I thought I'd also read that in order to achieve their goal of a fast small browser, they did have to start from scratch, or pretty damned close to.

Actually, Firefox was forked from the Mozilla tree to only include the browser component. It was not built from scratch.

They decided that some people wouldn't want the whole Communicator, and rather would just want a browser. Later on, Thunderbird was made to do the same sort of thing, only for email.

Mozilla has been around for ages, it grew out of the ashes of Netscape, and shares a lot of the original code.

Firefox on the other hand was completely rebuilt from the ground up to be smaller, faster, etc, etc.

Firefox has less features built in by default, and has been completely rewritten from scratch.

Mozilla have more things built-in while Firefox...well.... doesn't. I guess it just changes speed....or something.

Don't take me wrong, I love Firefox. I just don't know what's the difference between Mozilla and Firefox. Why make 2 browsers instead of doing just one ? Are there things Mozilla can do and Firefox can't or vice-versa ?
