Like has been stated above, it's hard to choose between the two, but I do favor CT over FFVI by a small margin. I just love the graphic style and flow of the game a bit more.

As far as music goes, they are both top notch soundtracks, and highly enjoy both.

I switch between General Leo avatars and Nu avatars off and on, both edited in paint programs. Since I've been in a CT mood this past year or so, my layout and avatar reflect that. Next year, maybe FFVI.

This is a tough one, I can't exactly just pick one.

They're different. Different moods, different settings, different battling, etc. They're both top notch games. But I guess if I absolutely had to pick 1, I'd pick CT. I'm a big time fan of anything Sci-Fi in a game and I really liked the futuristic parts of CT, being 2000 AD and the part with the floating island. (forgot the name ...) Also CT gives you more replayability with different endings, and new game +.

Still though, both are great. And for the record, FFVI is the best FF.

CT would be the clear winner for me, though FFVI would hold a very respectable competition for the winning spot. In the end it comes down to storyline and gameplay as well as music, which personally makes Chrono Trigger the winner, to me FFVI's music left a lot to be desired (though the Black Mages remakes of the battle theme's are ownage) and CT's was great and very directly linkable to the game, "At the Bottom of Night" is a nice deep and depressing song and matches the feel of the game at the point at which it's played, gameplay is a given to CT; with the time of completion, as well as a number of other factors contributing to the ending it proves to be great fun. FFVI kind of has a complete it once, see it all and get the tshirt quality to it if you ask me. Storyline is a hard one to call, FFVI has a linear storyline but a good one, CT has a non-linear and hard to follow storyline but for that it's ace.

So for me Chrono Trigger over FFVI kthnx.

Not sure which I would play first, they are both great games but I guess if you had to be picky Final Fantasy VI would have the edge on CT. This is coming from a Final Fantasy fan so I maybe a little biased but I feel the game is slightly better in story and music.

CT, better music. More whimsical story. More fun.

Hm... I like CT's music (generally speaking) and battles more... and the story and characters of FF6 (Frog and Magus just aren't enough, no matter how good they are)...

While I'm with Leno on this one, I'd probably play CT first if I got both at the same time. But, as it is I have FF6 (Playstation, it was given to me and my SNES is shot anyway) already, I guess it doesn't matter much to me.

Vanish Doom doesn't work on Kefka...it would be pretty funny if it did but nope. I did try it when I played FF6.

anyways, I like FF6 and CT. But if I had to choose, probably FF6 since I like the storyline a lot more. Plus the fact that your final enemy isn't who it seems to be in the beginning is the clinching factor for me.

FF6 is way way way way way way to easy... Chrono Trigger has some difficulty, and it took me a while to actually play through. So Chrono Trigger if I want a challenge and a game I haven't played through 50+ times.

Using x-zone would affect the entire group of enemies, where as doom would only work on one enemy. Doom works a lot more than x-zone, but some bosses are only affected by x-zone and others only doom. I'm pretty sure you can kill kefka with vd (woah, i just realized that vanish doom is vd, that's hilarious).

- Way more characters
- More spells / unique moves
- Battles that are actually random as opposed to being completely fixed
- Better score

In case you don't see where I'm going... my answer would have to be FF6. CT has to be one of the most overhyped RPGs around (then again, so is FF6.. but not so much as to the extent that CT is). The plots in both were good... although I'd say CT's story was better. Plus it was cool to see you do something in one time and have it affect another time... but there were equally as many cool quirks to be found in FF6.

The fixed battles and small cast in CT pretty much completely destroyed all replay value the game had for me. The desire to see the extra endings wasn't enough to make me sit through the game again... the plot is what kept me going the first time around... but after you've played it once, the plot isn't enough of a driving force to keep you going again.

Enemy graphics were absolutly gorgeous in FF6. Sure they were just fixed images and not animated like they were in CT... but if you compare them side-by-side, CTs enemies are... well... bland to say the least. Not that they're bad... I mean CT has terrific graphics... I'm just saying FF6's are better. And just look at some of the battle backgrounds (like the plains in WoB), absolutly stunning.

And of course... the characters and villains in FF6 are way better. Like... better in the sense that they're more memorable and more "complete". Dispite there being an insane number (16 or maybe 18?) of characters in FF6, each one has his/her own personality (and their own backstory/other event they can confront later in the game). And let's not forget Kefka and Ultros... who are arguably 2 of the best video game villains of all time (I know Seph is popular... but come on... he doesn't hold a candle to Kefka). Then take a look at CT. Some characters (Frog, Magus, maybe even Robo or whatever his name is) were good... whereas some were definatly lacking (Ayala I think her name is). And of course the stereotypical rebellious-tomboy-princess Marle, and who can forget remember Crono... the character who had absolutly zero personality (on a somewhat related note... the first time I played CT and they introduced Crono and Marle, right away I was thinking "SoM ripoff"... I mean Crono is almost a carbon copy of 'boy' from SoM (assuming you take away all of 'boy's personality)... and Marle is the girl from SoM.... there's like no difference between them at all).

So basically... CT has an edge on the plot... but FF6 is better in pretty much every other way imaginable.

What was the difference between x-zone and doom? I haven't played in a while, but I remember there was something different.. and that difference always made me use doom instead of x-zone.

It didn't work on many bosses and such.

Vanish + doom worked are pretty much everyone, even the statues.

I liked FFVI more. I dont like how CT has several endings.

Chrono Trigger - It had silly enemies and a onmap battle system - woo!

FF6 had boring enemies and battle scenes. (boo)

VANISH AND X-ZONE!

Too bad it doesn't work on everyone.

You used "your'e" twice. =o

I prefer FFVI. I don't have any justifiable reason except to say I wasted hours on that game and never really could get interested in CT.. then again, I only got a chance to play CT on a rom, which rarely capture my interest.
Vanish doom the bitches. x)

Why did you choose these two games specifically?

Same here.

Although there is a difference between favorite and best... maybe you liked the story of one over the other or something like that.

Still a push for me though.

Didn't this get made a while ago? I swear I've seen this before...maybe I'm thinking something like GameFAQs or something...

But like Leno said, how can you really compare them? They're both good in their own rights...and I'm pretty sure I played both equally and at least twice each.

"dur......."

This is an unanswerable question. Both are bad ass. That's all that can be said.

I'd go with CT just cause I really like the game. Actually, made i wouldn't, cause i've played through an emu of that game so many times it would be nice to see FF again. Really, i don't know what I'd do, but I know i wouldn't buy them, cause i own both.
