The best feature has to be the -awesome- conversation history handling. It's brilliant.

Last time I tried Trillian (I think it was version 2.x), it could stay on AIM for more than five minutes. I'm never using it again. Gaim and aMSN work fine for me.

dude, i'm sick and tired of these stupid software threads. it's like everywhere i turn there is always software, more like stupidware everyone stop trying to force me to use a certain IM program, u all suck!111 11

< / xkeeper >

as am aside, my current instant messaging client works well enough for me. i've tried both trillian and miranda and couldn't quite get used to them. then there is the whole thing about using only 1 client and not having a list of contacts spread over different software. so yah

Yeah, mainly the layout. It's less blocky as compared to win xp. Plus Video Conferencing <3. I do believe it supports Yahoo! voice conferencing, but I don't use Yahoo.

3.0 Beta > 2.0.

I like the new layout and everything just seems a little fresher. Plus it actually keeps track of how long it's been since someone's been online.

.. the other thing is, Miranda slips under the IT Audit's radar.

Trillian doesn't.

I like Trillian, I really do. But when IM'ing at work, I need a client that is very small and just does IM, not my mail, not my laundry, nothing else.
In 3.0 you can unload even the default medium plugins if you'd like; IE only have it load AIM support for you at any given time. It's not "nothing but text IM", but it can speed up loading.

voice chat for yahoo supported?

Not, but it consumes less memory and can be personalized fully .. but is always a question of what you actually need when it comes to an instand messenger
I don't need voice chat - Skype if I really wanted it

Might be okay, but I'm stickying to Miranda IM. I have currently the Trillian free version 0.74 installed, in case, Miranda should fail to connect one day

But as for Miranda: It is less than 1 MB in size, doesn't require install (just unzip and run) uses about 4-5 MB or RAM and is highly configurable due to a mass of plugins available - even tabbed browsing of chat windows like in Opera or Firefox is possible.
And with an additional fully configurable status pop-up notify it is really ass-kicking, like in an older screenshot seen here. And if you are annoyed, turn it off using the status try icon without going into the program's options. But anyway I disabled all sounds and popups when I'm selecting N/A or DND.

For me: Trillian is good, nonetheless, but Miranda is better

well I pay for Trillian so as soon as 3.0 is official I'll get a copy of it anyway... Trill 2 works for me... and I don't really have time to screw with Beta Trillian software... specially pirated... I learned my lesson the hardway with that shit...

Trillian is touchy enough when you pay for it, lol

Sort of.

Trillian 3.0 isn't out to the public yet, though there're lots and lots of http downloads in the internet for it. (PM me if you want one ^^). It's quite nice, having all of the previous features and more. There's no reason to use AIM anymore, as I can direct connect AND SEND FILES <3.
