The human eye perceives 12 pictures/second...so I imagine anything over 24 fps or maybe 30 would be too much to see a difference. I could work with 15; if nothing else, that *should* keep the file size down.

And yeah, RPGM2k uses 320x240, so...that works out well. I'll post m' work...whenever that comes to be...with upcoming finals, and the uncertainty of having a computer to work with over the long winter break...it could be awhile before it's done.

Another thing with Camtasia (which is also what I use for this) is that you shouldn't expect a good framerate if you capture something like 640x480 or higher ... I can capture a 320x240 area at about 15fps, but you might get better results with a good video card or processor

It also works as a video input device (like a webcam), so I use VirtualDub to record the capture with sound and then compress to .avi

If I were you I would use camtasia studio its very good with capturing animation and on screen video but, the only downside to it though is that you have to tweak video compression utility that they have. also if you can't afford the software email and I send you a custom made user name and key if you decide that you like it.

Just trying to help out a little bit.

email if you want it.

Bingo.

The thing I'm wanting to do is put together a little video clip of the game I'm creating via RPGMaker2000, like an advertisement or teaser, or somethin'. I wouldn't necessarily need to capture *every* sound, or even any of 'em. I know what to put as BGM.

If you're using Windows Media Player 8 or higher, you can go to the performance tab and turn off video acceleration, the downside is you lose the ability to fullscreen until you turn it back on.

Hope this helped!

If you know programming, you can check this out:
How to Capture Video Screen Shots

I found a few other utilities but they cost money...anyone find a freeware one?

I know the good ol' Print Scrn button captures a single screen...I was wondering, does anybody out there know of any prog that can capture video from the screen? Anything would be great. Thanks.
