Simply split the first zero

That's possible, yes, but DW:TLC uses three tiles.

I believe fu made the 100 use 2 tiles as well, and then used asm to make it so the game would display the 100 instead of 96, and so on

This is all very rusty memory, but if I remember correctly, there is a star that appears when you hit 96 exits completed on the main screen, and all FuSoYa did was to change the star to appearing at 100 exits, and replacing its graphic with the number 1.

96 with a star only uses 2 tiles, not 3.

So the exits stop at 96 (hex?). So can you not grab a tracer and then trace at 10, 20, 30, 40, etc up to 96 and then when it stops, you have the value? I would think that would work, then just change the value found to 78 (hex) which would be 120 exits.

This is just a thought, it might work, might not work I have no clue. But good luck with it and hope you find it out.

I recall someone releasing a patch to fix the counter stopping at 96. That's a pretty big hint that it will stop at 96

You can use levels 0-24 and 101-13B on the overworld, which is 96 levels altogether. I don't know what happens if you go past 96 exits...the code is almost certainly designed to show only 2 digits, so it'll either stop at 96 or 99, or just mess up (like show "A6" instead of 106).

Right ive gotten everything sorted in my hack, i can now get started , i know you can have 96 exits which is about 80 levels from my count, does anyone know what the maximum number of levels is and what levels havent been used , also what levels CANT be used with the overworld, if i can figure this lot out i can make my hack as big as possible.

P.S.
also im looking for someone who is willing to help with my hack, im at a deadline of february becasue im trying to make it for me sister who gets back from her year trip to australia in feb and she loves mario games, so as much help that possible please?
