hmm..then what the heck are you trying to download? even with dialup I've been able to get max...so, I'm not sure what's wrong with your computer... but anyways, you know what's out there and none of them work for you, then go get the real thing... |

anyways, bittorrent also works when there are a bunch of seeders/peers. Otherwise, rates of around 20kb/s are common. 5kb/s...are you firewalled? but anyways, i prefer bittorrent over the other p2p networks since I can get stuff I would never get, like TV shows that are aired overseas and the like
I dont have a firewall and I've never got over 5kb per sec. |

I downloaded Knoppix in seven minutes. That's 700 MB... so I was getting around 100 MB per minute, and that'll mean about 1.8 MB per second.
It just depends on your connection and the people you're downloading it from. There is no central server (like many others, probably SoulSeek as well) that keeps track of who are "leechers". And for the most part, you aren't blocked from downloading anything. |

100SHARESORLESSIBANJ00 screennames or something to that effect are idiots. Plus there are other mediums (WinMX and eMule come readily to mind). |

Whenever I'm downloading something, people ban me because I cant seem to get sharing working. Whenever I try and have shares, it makes it so SoulSeek takes freaking forever start up because it has to search my shares every time I start it up. Since I have a slow computer this isnt an option. Does anyone know how to share so that it doesnt take a freaking long time to go though only a few folders? |
