OOC: In a writing mood sorta... nothing too obvious, as opposed ot finishing off the last segment of what happened a post back.

"Where, the heck are we?"

The four hunters had chased after the black Normal Navi with a shipment of Darkchips somewhere at a hidden garden two miles from the SB Cafe. It was multi-colored compared to the outside garden, and the roses were shades of purple.

"Great, what a time to get lost."

"Shut up guys," David shouted to Forte and Zero. He held up his right arm, and began typing away at a holographic computer keyboard. It made a few beeps, before he smirked, "Found him. Let's go." David pulled out his Saber, and the three Navis backed up.

"Ryuenjin!" He swung his saber low, and flames danced out, and lit a small section of the wall of plants on fire, til they burned to the ground. He did this to the plant barriers they ran into when they ran through the maze, until they found themselves at the entrance to the SB Cafe, the back door. Sure enough, was the guy with the Dark Chips.

"Ryuenjin!" David took a running start, then slashed upward in the air, which flames escape the saber. It caught the Navi off guard, and it burned his Dark Chips except for one.

"AHH YOU!" He snatched the last chip, but a buster shot from Zero's Z-Buster knocked it into ForteZero's hand, who then karate chopped the Navi unconsious.

"Well... we could take this guy in."

"Yeah," David said, befire he was surrounded in a white light, then pulsed out of the Sim Battle Area, and appeared back in his room in the human plane of existance.

"Well, we'd better get this guy out of here before anyone else thinks were attacking an "innocent" person." Forte grabbed the guy, and lifted him onto his shoulders.

FORTE LOGGING OUT

ZERO LOGGING OUT

ForteZero looked back, before he returned his gaze at the other direction.

FORTEZERO LOGGING OUT

* * *

Later the day, David was tossign and turning in his sleep. He was in pain, as in his dream, he was runnign as fast as he could, but no matter what, a white haired Navi caught up with him, and shoved the Masamune through his heart.

This snapped David awake, as he bolted up, surprisenly not waking up Alia. "God... I'm still having that same nightmare..." David stood at the edge of the bed, in cold sweat after waking up from a nightmare he had. It was nearly nighttime as opposed to whatever day it is at the Sim-Battle Arena. "It's been so long since that battle with Sephiroth..." He closed his eyes in pain, as he remembered every last pained detail.

FLASHBACK THREE YEARS AGO

David finally overpowered the Navi, and knocked him away from him by a few feet. David unleashed a Single Blind, which blinded Sephiroth, but not the others. He then unleashed the final PA he had. "It is now the time. THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL PROGRAM ADVANCE EVER KNOWN!! DARKNESS NEO!!!!" David literally screamed out in a demonic voice, as a Dark Aura surrounded him. A black vortex appeared below him as a dark NetNavi came out.

Everyone gasped with horror as they saw RockMan's DarkSoul emerge. The aura pulled apart from David as it morphed into three figures. They were the DarkSouls of Forte, ForteZero, and the teen Maverick Hunter. RockMan DS lifted his buster, and it morphed into Gospel's head. He let the energy free, as shadow trails of Gospel was seen, all seven of them hitting Sephiroth. The three DarkSouls above glowed with an evil hue. Forte DS held out his hand over his head and charged up a DarknessOverload. ForteZero did the same, both combining together to make an even bigger one. David DS sent out a chilling evil laughter as he let himself get engulfed by the now newly formed Darkness Bomb. The two DarkSouls of Forte and ForteZero lashed their hands out, and sent the ball of energy that held David DS in at the deadly Navi who couldn't escape in time after regaining his vision. The blast reached its destination, and exploded, David DS unleashing a Final Flash/Darkness Overload at point blank range. The after shocks shook the Undernet, and destroyed part of it in the process. Everyone looked as the four dark souls turned and stared at them all before vanishing back into a vortex of darkness.

David (the real one) floated down, and with the SuperSaiyan Battlechip effect wearing off, he returned to normal, his helmet appearing again. Sephiroth was bleeding a bit, but he raised his broken right arm into the air, and concentrated some energy into his hand.

"Protochip: DOA Strike!" The collected power formed into his hand, and then Sephiroth launched a single beam of energy from his palm. When the beam was shot out, the chip appeared again, and broke up into useless data.

"Die human!"

When David looked up, it struck him head on. Everyone gasped as David's body had a hole in it, where his heart was supposed to be.

"..." David was moritifyed, as he cast one last glare at the ancient Navi, who smirked evilly.

"Don't think this is the end David... I will haunt you to the day... you...... die........." David eyes then went blank as his armor started glowing and flashing, before an explosion erupted around his body. The area flashed three times before growing brighter, the explosions going faster. Three more flashes are seen as the area turned blinding white. It grew larger before ending in a blaze of fire, armor fragments scattering everywhere into the dark reaches of the Undernet until it faded into the shadows, sight returning shortly. Not a trace of his life remained, as he died in the real world.

END FLASHBACK

"Damn him... I can still hear that laughter of his... echoing..." He and his Navi ForteZero put up all they could ot prevent Sephiroth from destroying the net, and they paided for it with their lives. But after a final battle with the three strongest Navis in their ultimate Style Changes, was the angel of death brought down to deletion. With help from HolyData, everything was rebuilt, revived, and somehow he and ForteZero were alive again.

He got up, and went to the sliding door. Opening it and closing it quietly, he sat down in a chair on the second floor balcony of his home, and just looked at the reflected light off the moon's surface.

"These nightmares will never end..."

"Maybe because your weak," said a voice. It was his Yami. Not in the mood, he just told Yami David to stuff it. The Dark Soul smirked and chuckled lightly before he vanished. Soon, the real David dozed off to sleep again.

A short human, looking only 14, with hazel eyes and brown hair, with leather clothing marked with angry mushrooms, walks in. He introduces himself as Zeth (my RP name). He's not wielding anything, but you can barely spot the handle of a short mace, which has a mushroom shape from the back. Zeth goes over to the cafeteria ordering counter, and gets a fried egg with toast. He sits down alone, and mumbles about a danger that threatens the universe (Acmlm going down), and we all need to chip in. (donate). He also mentions about people being jailed forever (banned) beacause of talking constantly about irrelative stuff, messing up society (spam), and people insulting (flaming.) He finishes the egg, and goes off to the gym to practise.

"Pounding Whirlwind!"

Zeth starts spinning around, as to hit the opponent with his mace held out. then throws it at the dummy, cracking the post holding it up.

OOC: That's enough for 1 post.

EDIT: By the way, i'm not actively participating in any storylines.

"Holy crap!" David and Zero were amazed at the giant hole in the ground.

"He did THAT!?"

"Hell yeah," Forte said, scaring the blond swordsman.

"Don't do that!" Zero shouted.

"Heh... we were back at your HP David, but we found that note saying that you were coming in after us. So we backtracked here. That damn thief got what he deserved, heh... and I rather enjoyed that."

ForteZero closed his eyes, sweatdropping. And he's off laidies and gentlemen... "So, big deal bro, but how are we gonna explain to Commander Signas that you deleted our only suspect who knows about the large shipment of Darkchips?" The White Shadow took out something from under hos cloak he was wearing, but his face paled when he grabbed the wrong poster.

OOC: Credit for the owner of Abnormal Gravity. That comic series rock... except this... u_u

He quickly put it away before Forte could look at it, and grabbed the cyber wanted poster and showed the Black Shadow the same Navi who he just deleted some minutes ago over the little problem of his helmet and cloak being stolen.

Forte froze, as he turned white. "Uhh... opps." He gave out a nervous laugh.

The two Navis and human teenager face-faulted.

"That's not funny Forte..."

"Well sorry," he said with an annoyed tone in his voice.

"Whatever, let's go already." Zero brushed off the dirt off his hair before he walked off. The three quickly followed after.

"No leads now thanks to Forte's uncontrollable rage... and obession over his cloak and helmet, "David muttered the last part under his breath.

"What was that?"

"Nothing!"

"So, got the goods?"

"Sure... take 'em and go to hell."

NETNAVI LOGGING OUT

"Great... a shipment of Darkchips."

"FREEZE!" The black NormalNavi found himself surrounded. Zero and ForteZero had their sabers drawing out, Forte aimmed his duel busters, and David -- who somehow mysteriously transformed into his Command Armor in a second -- had his Magnum Revolver pistol drawn out and already aimmed.

"Uhh...." The chip buyer sweatdropped, "umm.... LATER!" He tossed a black bomb and ran. ForteZero slashed the bomb to bits before it could explode, and the four were giving chase at the black Navi through the SB Cafe gardens

"All right then. See you around."

Adric stands up, and wraps himself in a cocoon of blue mana energy. When he removes the shell, he's back in his little wooden hut in the mountains. He sits down on a sturdy wooden chair and falls asleep almost immediately, to dream about the horrors that will await him in the new day...

Yiusi looks outside. "Oh my, it is late... And the rain hasn't stopped much, either. I should've been going a while ago, too... But the rain could take a toll on me if I'm careless. I'll need the Yiusi Ball."

She stands up, and suddenly it's noticed she has a ball of dim-glowing, cream-colored gel in her right hand. It's pure Oracle Energy.

"Hey, Adric... I really appreciate you telling me the stuff you did. It was very interesting and it made me think a lot. Thank you."

With that, she begins heading out the door, into the rain... As she does, the Yiusi Ball hovers above her and generates a dim energy shield that protects her from the rain, though the tip of her long hair gets a little wet...

She walks off, towards an unknown destination. That's Yiusi... always wandering.

Adric smiles. No one had ever even considered asking that question before... But she's an Oracle, so you have to expect the unexpected.

"Well... Like I said, the universe has existed forever. But you see, a long, long time ago Mana didn't even exist, and everything in the universe was made out of really tiny bits of stuff. The most advanced researchers of the day had figured out how to make powerful weapons by destroying the fundamental pieces of their world. This would cause a chain reaction, and a bit of the world would rip itself apart, destroying a planet just as easily as a person. There was a war between humans, and they used the weapon. Twelve planet's worth of matter converted into amazing amounts of energy... So much energy was created that another chain reaction occured, and the energy built upon itself until it covered everything... And it turns out that these pieces of energy were much, much smaller than those of matter. Everything everywhere became infused with the resulting energy, which was possible because the universe is finite in size. That energy is what we call Mana.

So, almost all the humans were dead, except for a small colony on a single planet. They built up and prospered, and their gain of scientific knowledge followed not the path of technology but the path of magic. Eventually, a man named Kiroso discovered that as a result of this infusion of mana, the universe was slowly collapsing. He built a city of sorcery and power, protected by illusions and magical creations. That city is now known as Kantarine, and it's where he and a few trusted friends decided upon what must be done to perserve the existence of everything... And the Balance Mages were formed. There were only six of them at first, but as they mastered the temporal flux technique, they were able to live long enough to see the guild to four hundred dedicated members, an academy, and a library. That was almost thirty million years ago, and everything still exists, so I suppose it worked.

It would be a longer story, but many of the records were destroyed along with the planet they resided in when the first of the Space Dragons decided it wanted a snack. By then the entire population had been secretly teleported to a suitable replacement home, so there weren't any casualties, except if you count what we did to the dragon. They no longer exist, but it you were to go near the edge of the universe you would find the remains of a few hundred squashed together into an area smaller than this book.

So, that's my history. Being a Balance Mage is more than a profession, and I hope you'll forgive me for the cliche, it's a way of life."

He yawns, and smiles again.

"It's getting late... I'm going to get some sleep soon, to be ready for tomorrow. Anything else you'd like to say?"

"That's just it, though... There HAVE been Oracles in the Material Plane before, but not mortal ones; only for special reasons. Some people know we exist, from centuries ago... and even recent ones before my time. But Oracles are a faith thing, for the most part... So you and I are kind of along the same lines, though the Balances Mages aren't a race, or at least I don't think so... More like a profession. Oracles are a sentinent life-form with power.

"Now... How did the Balance Mages come to be? They HAD to have had a beginning, right? You got me curious, besides I like long stories."

She leans forward and folds her hands across the table, intent on Adric telling her the history of his kind.

"Yes... While it's truly a shame that the truth takes so long to travel, it's also ironically why I'm still alive. I've revealed myself for what I am to four major cities on this continent, yet still no one anywhere has ever heard of the Balance Mages. Can you imagine the widespread panic if anyone found out just how close everything is to total oblivion? But I checked back, and it's a local Creation Myth now. Isn't it amazing?

But believing in multiple variations of a true ideal... A good example is freedom. It's hard to define, and if you ask twenty different people you'd probably get twenty different answers. Similar situation with virtue, and what it really means to be alive. My point is, that when people think about the Oracles, they think about them from a philosophical perspective, and so they theorize and theorize and when they aren't proven wrong they spread their 'truth.' If people stopped believing in Oracles and started accepting that they exist, there wouldn't be nearly as much ignorance."

"Yeah, Indigo City!" Yiusi exclaims, her face (not literally) lighting up. "That's actually what started it all... with the talks, that is. They asked me to tell them everything I knew, so I spoke about Oracles and answered their questions... I decided I was pretty good, and would do it whenever I could. In two months' time from then, I had already been to Pewteredge, Stork Heights and Metrovermillion, three cities each with a Temple, and had spoken truth to the people. That third city... They needed that speech! My being there ended up proving many of their ideals false."

Pause.

"And that's the sad thing with people... It's the lack of unity. So many people believe in different variations of the same thing... You know how that is, right?"

"Haha, well, the purposely ignorant deserve their fate. But yes, I've learned quite a bit of truth about the Oracles... Indeed, I've heard one of your talks once. Some crazy guy got possessed and destroyed a temple, and by the time I showed up he was apologizing and rebuilding it. So I know that you have some awe-inspiring techniques, as well. Really, I though I'd never see you again, and I'm pretty sure I was just another face in the crowd. The Priest of Indigo City is a friend of mine, actually, so I was obligated to help... Turns out I was a little late.

Ah, the past. That's the trouble with now; It keeps turning into then."

"Oh sure, I'm sorry I--"

Yiusi, and perhaps Adric too, hears the scream from outside the SB Cafe via Forte's revenge against the thief.

"Whoa! What was that?" she exclaims for a moment, then, "Ah, it doesn't really matter... Yeah, Kyr'Shei finds it hilarious to watch the smartest, most educated scholars trying to teach Oracle history... Now, I've only been to the Haven one time in my life, because of my previous Destiny and my current situation not giving me the means... but I heard from my comrades up there that it's a hilarious thing to hear the kinds of things those scholars say.

"Here's my advice... If anyone wants to know anything about Oracles that is accurate, they should ask, aside from me, a Priest or Priestess at one of Kyr'Shei's temples who is at LEAST 65 years old. I say 65 because it takes many, many years for a mortal to have such a tight connection with us, so anyone relatively young may not know all the answers. And the Priests still have much to learn for real, so I tend to travel around and teach at cities with a Temple nearby... Any city without a Temple, I can guarentee you will not care what I have to say."

The whole time, Yiusi is curious about the gemstones that Adric had mentioned, but in respect she doesn't pursue the matter.

"Indeed... It's amazing that anyone would WANT to destroy an Oracle temple in the first place. Heh... You know, I took three years of Oracle Studies at the Academy, but almost all of what I learned there was a collection of guesses, almost all of which have been proven wrong by now. The progress of knowledge is a fantastic thing... A few years ago I would never have expected to be in the mess I'm in... Oh! Sorry, I shouldn't start talking about that, it's kind of... confidential. You see, even though I trust fully that you wouldn't tell anyone, I'm not supposed to mention my mission... I'm only supposed to be here for a day, then I'm back on duty. Ordinarily they'd send a field agent, not a researcher, but I have a reputation for being the best that I unwisely earned in my younger years. Of course I'm the only one qualified to do the job, but I hoped that they wouldn't notice... You know?

Well, I'm going to enjoy the little time I have... They only gave me this day because tomorrow my Mana Crystal will be complete. It's what you get when you condense as much mana as possible into a gemstone... I'll give you some examples of the kind of power they have. An ordinary human can be sustained without food, water, or sleep for three weeks. Enough time can be wrapped into a small space to send something the size of a fist four years into the future. Or, as I prefer, one skilled magic user can be supercharged into far more than their normal maximum mana limit. It takes a long time to make a crystal with that much power, but much less if many people work together. Half of the Balance Mages in existence are channeling power into this, and it still took the better part of last week.

So, basically, I've told you everything I can about what I'll be doing. If I go any farther causality will snap and everything will cease to exist, and that would be Really Bad.

...Can we talk about something else?"

"So... this is that place Forte and ForteZero go to?" Zero asked, as he and David enter through the doors to the cafeteria. Seems the two were just bypassers, probably looking for the Black and White Shadow.

"Yeah... a hidden link from my HP only seen by Forte, ForteZero, and myself, and now you Blond Bomber." David smirked.

As the two passed by the occupied table, Y. David let out a small energy of pure darkness from within his soul room. Those pitiful Navis have no idea of my existance... heh, be fun to see how'd they react when they find out one day...

"So, they passed by here?"

"Yeah, a HeelNavi broke into here, and they went after that guy. He also stole Forte's helmet and cloak. I pulsed in after the two. I wonder if they found him yet..."

* * *

Elsewhere somewhere outside the building...

"Heh, now my friends will have to believe me! Hehe, once I show it to them, proving how I stole the two things belonging to the powerful dark Navi of the Uranet, I'll sell it on the Black Net Market! HAHAHAHAHAA!!" The HeelNavi went into an abrupt evil cackle, before a shadow descended on him. He stopped as he felt a cold shiver enter his body.

Behind him was Forte, but his face was shadowed, and he had an insane look in his eyes. He grinned insanely like.

"Well, hello you crazed &@^#%*$... heh heh heh..." The HeelNavi slowly turned around, fear in his eyes.

(Pan Camera shot from far away, possibly a slight overview of the Sim-Battle Arena's outer gardens outside the cafeteria.)

A horrifyed scream of pure terror echoed out into the sky, gathering the attention of those who might of heard it followed by an explosion, and small earth tremor. David and Zero the ones who definetly heard it, and felt the ground shake a little.

* * *

"Well... looks like Forte got his stuff back, determing from that high-pitched scream of pure terror we just heard," Zero said with a smug grin, eyes closed.

"Yeah... I wonder what Forte did to that guy."

The two started running towards the origin of the scream, heading outside.

* * *

"Uhh, brother, was that really neccesary?" ForteZero asked.

"What, that damn HeelNavi stole my helmet and cloak, so he asked for it." Forte walked past his brother. ForteZero glanced at the site before him, before he followed after his older brother. The site behind the two Shadows: a giant hole made by Forte's Darkness Overload. There are still a few spots still ablazed with black flames, but the wind quickly took care of that, and scattered the deleted data of the HeelNavi into the air.

Yiusi takes a good look at the book.

"Oh yeah! I remember that book... though I'm not totally sure how... The Oracle Princess that created me gave me all her memories, so she might have known about this book. This was an issue in the Oracle Haven for about a year... Some higher-ranked officials wanted to make some of their powers available to mortals, and there was a huge debate in the Great Halls over the matter... Finally, Kyr'Shei allowed these tunnels to exist for 50 years to see what happens. The tunnels should be long gone by now, but the ones who were using them forgot about them before they even disappeared. And... I don't remember what happened to the few mortals that actually utilized the power... But the next time I visit a Kyr'Shei temple, I'll ask him about that. 'Sides, you got me curious!

"Yeah, you know about those Oracle temples, right? I try to go to one once a week. It seems to recharge my soul with fresh energy. A few weeks ago, though, I was travelling with someone to a desert town, and the Temple there got destroyed by someone. I was so upset... And it's worse than having, like, a church you go to destroyed... My relationship with Kyr'Shei is direct, unlike many religions that exist today."

"Hmm... You see, recently I've acquired a book from the ruins of a temple to Fate. Archaeology is a hobby of mine, because it's neat to go back and see places that you remember from before they became so decrepit. It's a valuable lesson that nothing in our world lasts forever. But this book, it contains some rituals that were designed to be used to draw on Oracle energy for power. This mana would be put towards some petty goal, such as sinking a small island or what have you, a feat that could be easily accomplished by our experiment teams. The fact remains that they seem to have found a working connection between the Oracles and this dimension, one by which magic can travel... I checked this out, and I CAN use these coordinates to send a small packet of magic to the Oracles and back. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It's really not practical for large amounts of mana because of the instability you'd cause, but the last spell in the book refers to plans to use these connections to pull the two planes closer and closer together, until material portals opened on their own from the stress. I've checked the math, and in theory it COULD work... and that actually happening would be Really Bad. There's no way to tell whether or not the book was ever copied out, but this one appears to be the original."

With this, Adric reaches into a pocket and retrieves a thick volume bound in black leather that obviously wouldn't fit in any of his pockets. Opening it to a seemingly random page in the middle, be begins reading the complicated runic text, his finger running along the paper in strange patterns, indicating that it's meant to be read in a very unusual order...

"All right, right here it says... 'In our studies we have found that the only source of unlimited power in the entire cosmology is the Oracle plane....' It goes on to give coordinates of the tunnel structures by which mana can be sent back and forth... 'These locations have only thin, long connections, but as they are used they will become thicker and shorter... However, beware the wrath of those whose power is stolen, for this magic was not made for the hands of mortals...' More apocalyptic predictions, that sort of thing.

So... What do you think of all this?"

Yiusi listens thoughtfully as Adric talks about himself, and can't help but giggle when he speaks of her age.

"700 years? Yeah, I'm about that old... But I've only been mortal for less than a year. I still have a lot to learn."

She takes a bite of the Maplefruit.

"It's a long story... Oracles can only exist in the Material Plane, normally, by following some special orders that a higher-ranked Oracle places upon them called Destinies. Breaking our Destinies is not an option... but I did anyway. Kyr'Shei, the Oracle Lord, to teach me the TRUE meaning of Destiny, sentenced me to a lifetime as a mortal... and when I die, I go back to the Oracle Haven and tell him what I learned. Schwa is a great friend of mine, and so is Janus.

"If anything, you actually know more about the Material Plane than I do, even if I'm a few hundred years older. Just about my favorite thing to do is talk to as many interesting people as I can, and you definitely fall under that category." She pauses. "So you Balance Mages keep the planes of existance equalized in mana distributation, basically. That's fascinating! Oracles, though, we have a very complicated purpose... We're not like Gods in the sense that Gods create life and such... but Oracles create wisdom, so just like the Gods, we are worshipped and revered in many places. But Gods are very fickle in their nature... Unlike them, we Oracles almost never get angry, even when the ones who revere us are disrespectful. Most of us try our hardest to teach people as best as possible, and on the side we keep the greatest legends alive as well. I mean, if you have any questions about Oracles, you can feel free to ask me! I do a lot of talking about Oracle culture in cities that revere us... It's pretty enlightening watching their reaction when they find out the truth about me."

Yiusi pauses and lets Adric add anything if desired, eating the last of the Maplefruit in the process.

Adric watches as Schwa leaves... It hadn't really occured to him how tired the guy is. There's not a lot of people who can just live a day, but it looks like Schwa is more than capable. Adric gets out a quick goodbye before Schwa actually teleports, then turns back to the table just in time to see Yiusi sitting down.

"He said he was going to go to Pentalipse, then back to HQ... Turns out he was a lot more tired than I thought at first.

My age? That's an interesting question to jump into a conversation with... But nevertheless, I'll try to avoid playing mind games with you the way I mess with Schwa. I'm actually almost four hundred years old, counted by the winter solstice of each year. You see, although I'm pretty much a normal human, I've also been training as a Balance Mage since about fifteen years. The central principe of the Balance Mages is that absolutely everything in the universe is made of mana energy. You've heard this theory? Well, there's also an effect by which mana pulls in any mana around it, sort of like gravity. So, since the universe has been around since forever and certainly doesn't go on infinitely in all directions, it follows that by now all the mana energy would be in one tiny spot. But it still exists. That's where the Balance Mages come into my little explanation. Whenever something happens that threatens to rip everything everywhere apart from the sole force of too much mana in one spot, one of us shows up and... neutralizes the situation. That could mean anything between killing a dragon and knocking out some old wizard who figures he can summon the entire demon dimensions into this one and make them his slaves. So... Basically, if the Balance Mages didn't exist, nothing else would, either. Sort of like the Psi Warriors, except if they go down the Material Plane is taken over by demons instead of destroyed. And this does relate to my age, I didn't just launch into a ridiculously long nonsequitor. One of the first things that initiates master is the ability to fold mana around yourself. If you do it just right, you go through time at roughly twelve percent of the rate by which other people do. So I suppose, biologically, I AM 45, but according to the solar calendar I'm 399.

That was... a long speech. But I'd also like to mention that the earliest records I can find of one Yiusi have existed for seven hundred years, so I expect you've been around long enough to sit through a few minutes of talking without being overly bored. Especially because you have food.

You know what? I've always wanted to talk to someone older than I am. The opportunities are pretty scarce, if you know what I mean. I'm currently the most senior Balance Mage in existence... All my superiors are a hundred years younger. I could easily be given the position of Patrician if I requested it, but I much prefer being able to do research on mana theory and the new spells being made almost every day by our creation teams. Sometimes they come up with a way to use energy that they don't understand themselves, and I'm the only one who's old enough to have learned about it back when they taught it regularly.

So... Anything else you'd particularly like to talk about?"

Unfortunately, too drained to think, Schwa tuned out Adric's 3rd and 4th paragraphs... but he did hear the last one.

"Yeah... And I guess the only effective way is by trial and error. You know that, though... Even the best scholar in all the world would learn more from trial and error than from a book, even a spellbook."

Schwa gets up from the table. "I'm too tired to think... I believe I'm going to take a short trip to Pentalipse before heading to HQ for the day. See ya later, Adric." He walks towards the door, but instead of exiting through it, he silently wavers and fades out of existance in teleportation.

Damn... A challenge from Garro, Allaura kissing him, dinner with Yiusi, and a semi-philosophical conversation with Adric... not to mention the issue with the service...

At about this time, Yiusi gets back from the counter with another Maplefruit and sits down.

"Wow... Where'd Schwa go off to? He seemed pretty down."

Emily the Zraku, still nearby, nods in agreement.

"Oh well! At least I can still talk to you. How old are you? 45?"

Yiusi can't tell Adric's age... but then again, it's not like Adric may know just from looking that Yiusi, with the appearance of an 18-year-old girl, is in fact over 900 years old. ^.^

"No, really? I'm sure I didn't say it out loud... I suppose you had a chance to look in when I got mana drained and I just thought of my age offhand... But I'm absolutely positive that I didn't tell you myself.

And you're wrong anyway, I'm 399, and turn 400 on the winter solstice. Nice try, though.

Heh... So, you've met Corona? Shapeshifter with serious angst issues? Well, I first got to know him immediately after he took the Oath, to a Disciple of Fate. He had a change of heart, you see, after becoming allies with another only to see him destroyed. Being on the receiving end of pain and suffering does wonders for those who once desired those effects in others. I had a little chat with him, and managed to get him to travel to the Forest of Sorrows. After all, if anyone can train a former demon to use their powers for good, it's Ashra. Unluckily for me, he was captured, and if I intervened directly then it would have led to some serious apocalyptic stuff. The only thing left for it was to quietly inform the Psi Warriors of the demon situation in the rainforest, where I'd tracked Corona to. You guys rushed out there, and it just so happens that the Nexus of Souls collapsed in on itself the very next day. Three goals accomplished all in one go: Corona gets saved, you meet him, and the Nexus goes away forever.

You're probably thinking that I'm a nasty, evil, manipulative bastard, aren't you? Well, if I hadn't mentioned the rainforest in passing to a Psi Warrior, it would have been another four days on average before the raid occured. By then, Corona would have had the demon bow mastered, and the situation would have been catastrophic. So please, don't blame me, I did what I thought would achieve the most favorable outcome.

But back to your worries... I seriously doubt that much more of this sort of thing will happen to you. You were most likely only mixed twice because every metaphorical probability curve must have its far end. I suggest that instead of spending your time worrying yourself to pieces, you should find out how to best use these powers that you're essentially stuck with. Learn to master these talents and become stronger."

"You're 400 years old," Schwa says with a small sigh. "Remember, you told me while we fought that dragon. I may be a whippersnapper to you, but if you forget things that quickly, I really don't mind." He smirks and poses in his chair. Hoo hah!

"But in all seriousness... I'm just a little depressed. I normally would be pretty chipper, but obviously I've had a lot to think about. It's been a week since I helped Corona out and destroyed a very Evil being in the process... Since then, I've begun to wonder... I now have three kinds of DNA in me; my human DNA, Oracle blood, and this Ma Pingon implanation... And the problem is, this Ma Pingon DNA, though less than 1% in comparison to my human side, has affected me greatly. Look at this!" He waves to his purple arm. "You can even feel it if you want. It feels like plant matter. Less than 1% did THIS to me? I shudder to think of what 5% would be like.

"Will I eventually get so many DNA strands mixed in with mine... that I'll be a freak of nature?"

Schwa sighs and leans back in his chair, quite depressed. The poor guy does indeed have a lot to think about.
