Well, you could load a MIDI up in a MIDIeditor, and get the notes from the editor...

so, is there no way to get music into the game without a ton of work? cause I have some that I think would go really well.

Ok, i get that I cant just insert midi files, but i wanted to insert music from another snes game. Would that be possible?

Also, if u cant just insert midis or whatever, then how did that guy get th simpsons, and the US anthem in easily?

The music editor can only play the specific 24 instruments which is mapped at the wave editor.

The notes for the 24 instruments range from G2 - B5 (i think, or is it B2 - A5), and some of them will play in HM but won't play in the emulator (like playing Instrument 0E with note say A5)

you can only play around with those notes (and pauses, etc) but you certainly can't achieve midi quality due to the limited amount of instruments for the whole game.

Yeah if you're with simple changes to the song, you can use the music editor in HM, but if you're talking about something big like rewriting songs then hex editor is your friend.

It was really easy to me when I was hacing Zelda. I put in the Simpsons and the US national anthem just to try it out. It was weird. Cool, but weird.

You're welcome

and yea, that'd be alot of dollars.

and if you really can't figure it out, try using thehelpfile. Personaly, I think the music editor isn't all that great, and I find using hex myself to be good. But that's just me. PLEASE don't ask me to explain how to do it in hex. The stuff is all pretty much right there in the editor. in hex. just in a text-labled form. Just look at what different bytes do and figure it out from there.

Then you'll have one dollar, plus X times amount of dollars, where X represents the amount of people before him asked you that specific question.

Ok, i had made a thread about my zelda hack before everytthing got erased. but, no matter. Its coming along VERY nicely. Im getting close to completeion.

Now, the question...

How does the music editor in HM work?

Can I substitute Midi files into the game? How am i supposed to get the music into the game. Ive tried playing with it with no success. The addition of music would add a lot to my hack, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
