OOC: Dude, you should write horror fiction or something, you're good.

As the flames died down, the morning sun shined upon the silhouette of Janus, who stood upon the head of his floating hammer, the unconscious Grey in one arm, the other arm placed in front of his face. It was a narrow escape, but Janus managed to get his hammer back in time to rise above the flames before Grey was badly injured. Janus spoke into a wrist communicator given to him by Agent Blue some time ago...

Janus: "John, the detective's in bad condition, he's been badly burned and if he stays here he won't last much longer. Consider this mission a failure. There's not really a place to pick him up, so I'm setting the coordinates for the remote teleporter. Just get him out of here. I've got to deal with a problem that just arose."

The voice of Agent Blue could be heard over the wristwatch...

Blue: "I see. Do not worry, Janus. We will make sure he recovers. I take it our new ally will not be an ally?"

Janus: "Correct. Mission failed. But he seems intent on a fight, so I've got to make sure nobody else gets hurt. It's hard enough keeping an eye on this guy, so just get him out of here. I don't want anyone else to die. Just get Grey out of here."

Blue: "Understood. Teleporting Detective Grey to HQ."

As Blue's voice crackled over the wrist communicator, green light swirled around the limp body of Grey, and in an instant he disappeared from Janus' arms, returning to the Whitelight base to recover. Janus, however, still floated in the morning sky.

Janus: "Your reasoning's a bit flawed, there. I'm not exactly "mortal," in the sense you seem to use, anyway. Now then, what else are you capable of?"

Janus' glowing blue eyes stayed locked onto the shining red beacon that was Phage.

"Here's, of course, to hoping you don't end up destroying the planet..."

In response, Phage easily dodged the chunk of cement, burning it down to a bundle of ashes. Turning back to the two adversaries he saw it coming. The giant hammer smashed straight into his face.

Ow. That hurt.

Using his sword, he picked himself up. Streaks of blood were upon his face. They soaked into his skin. The aura grew greater in a crimson color. Grey was the first to notice it. The aura was producing a trickle of crimson liquid.

It seemed as if dark animals crawled and swam among the boiling gore. It clawed through the ground, melting down all that lied below. Ant colonies, worms, prehistoric bones all disappeared. The corruption of the ground caused it to split. Phage stood, levitating above the hollow ground enjoying the sight of it all.
Flaming darts flew around all that was within and without the crevasse.

They float, crownlike around my head, casting down eerie pain into the ones below. Not even shadows dare enters my soul, as I am this planet

OOC: I'm not gonna die if you let this fight sit and fester, if you're gonna update just update. You don't have to tell me you're gonna post later. In fact I'd suggest against it, because if you post, then edit your post, I won't be able to know when you edit it.

Janus: "Oh, no. Not this time!"

Slamming his hammer into the ground, Janus released a shockwave that caused a chunk of earth and rock to come flying in front of Phage, in an effort to block his assault on Grey! Grey sank out of the way, falling to the ground and frantically scrambling to get away from Phage!

"Can't have him dying, now can we? And as a followup...."

As the wave of earth erupted from the surface, Janus hurled his hammer in a spinning arc at Phage!

"Take this!"

Been a long day.
Half Asleep.
11:00 PM.
Eyes closing shut...
Bleh. Heres a quick thingie...

OOC: Annnnnnd..... you got it. Congratulations, and welcome to the world of Sim Battling.

Janus: "Shit!"

With a quick full-body tackle aimed at the now-frozen-in-terror-Grey, Janus managed to pull him out of the way of Phage's charge, and shoved him against the wall of the alley, furious at himself for not realizing that would happen.

"Foolish! I can't have you getting hurt, can I? You. Stay here, he's attacking. I'll handle this, just stay safe."

Grey stares wide-eyed at Phage and presses himself as far up against the wall as he can, shocked and awed. Janus, meanwhile, is unfazed. He takes his satchel, and from it extends the pole-handle of the now-converted hammer. His eyes lock onto Phage, and begin glowing an eerie blue color...

"Alright, then. If that's the way you want to play, then let's play...."

OoC: Does that mean only one attack, well a try at an attack, per turn?
Well, I tried for a single "try for an attack" on this one...

IC: They were coming. They spoke to each other constantly. Exercising their mouths like babies just learning how to speak. They came closer. Oh so close. Step by step they came. So close then too close. They were the ones from before. They pretended friendship yet Phage felt distrust inside. They spoke. They were asking questions. Asking questions. They echoed in his mind. A feeling of discomfort formed in his body

OOC: Alriiiiiight, now we're getting somewhere! Jeez, the age disparity is more than made up for by the amount of detail you put into your posts.

Grey and Janus continued looking for Phage. After a short time, Janus looked back at Grey, who kept eyeing him with the utmost in suspicion. Certainly, he had bitten off more than he could chew in this situation...

Janus: "Stop looking at me like that. It's disconcerting. The last thing I need is for you, of all people, to think I'm some kind of weirdo. You'd think with all of the stuff you've seen so far you'd be less shocked. Anyway, if you must know he's been scaling buildings for the past half hour. If I'm right he should be just around the corner. Considering his first reaction to our presence, I'm guessing he doesn't want tobe our ally very much, so I think it'd be best to just dispatch him before he starts killing more innocent people than he already has..."

Grey nodded. It was interesting, really. The snow began collecting on his hat and coat, and he pulled it closer to himself to keep his body heat in, but it pierced him. Part of it almost seemed to be coming from Janus himself, but Grey knew that was impossible. Even Janus wasn't that strange. Still, the fact that he could wear a simple t-shirt and pants in this kind of weather amazed Grey, the indifference to the cold was almost conditioned, as though he could feel little difference in temperature, or as though his body were used to it. Peculiar....

As Janus rounded the corner, the silhouette of Phage sat amidst a background of light from the houses around the alleyway. Ominous, for sure. But Janus didn't mind, he had seen scarier in his years, to be certain.

"You're Phage, right? No need for introductions, I know all about you, in some form or another. My name is Janus. I am known to some as the Explorer of Time, the Master of Mediocrity to others, and a royal pain in the arse to everyone else."

Janus took a few cautious steps toward Phage, removing his satchel from his shoulder, ready to convert it at any time. He didn't want to fall victim to another surprise attack.

"Now, I'm just asking you for a decent man-to-man talk. You want to talk with swords, we can. But I'd rather do this civilly. And know that if you clash with me, you won't win easily. That's NOT overconfidence."

OoC: Ok, I'll go check it out.
I just checked your age... 13yrs vs 17yrs. I feel so young and puny.

Phage looked down from the building in amusement. The two broken daggers lay on the floor. Dirtied with a bit of mud and blood they looked pretty pitiful. Those were the ones that had been in the flesh, yet those were not Phage

OOC: Relax, it's not that hard, most of the "humans" you see in here aren't that normal anyway. A lot of them have lightning reflexes, the ability to dodge, some kind of protective device... The real basics that you need worry about are just describing an action that your foe can think his way out of. And when your foe does that to you (let's say Grey fires a bullet at Phage), you take a quality from your character (Well, considering you're not a normal being you might be superfast, and be able to dodge the bullet!) and apply it to the situation and that's your defense (Phage dodged out of the bullet's path with his superhuman speed, causing a narrow miss!).

The thing to keep in mind, however, is you can't always miraculously dodge. You've got to have a good reason for it. Let's use the previous bullet example, but this time Phage's movement is impeded by an oil slick Grey sprayed on the floor in front of him! He won't be able to dodge, so he's got to find some other way to stop that attack from hurting him. You could then make use of the scenery around you. Since this is a city, you could try something like grabbing a garbage can lid and using it as a shield. Crude, but effective. And, since you've got that garbage can lid, you could fling it like a frisbee at Grey for a counterattack. The point of the fights is to move fluidly, reactions follow actions, and the attacks you make won't necessarily hit unless you maneuver your foe into a position where they have to hit.

I think that's pretty much all I can think of as far as fighting normal people goes. The FAQ at the top of the forum might be able to help you more than I do, I've never really been to any other Sim Battle forums, so I just kinda go by the rules that are inherent here. So, you want to give it a shot?

OoC: I never fought normal people in a sim battle before. So it's kinda hard.
And they never used guns.

OOC: Oy, this is gonna be kinda tough.... Alright, let's go through this step by step. Now, things start off pretty well. I like the opening, you're talking about guns. However, you say that shots are fired, and from there it just goes downhill. Firstoff, you're controlling my character. Grey's not gonna hurt you unless I say he's gonna hurt you, just like you won't hurt me unless you say you're attacking. I won't control your character, you won't control mine. It's in the rules.

Here's the thing about attacking, though. You need to think out your attacks. Killing blows are going to be extremely hard to pull off, and nobody ever really kills anyone around here anyway, it's a bad idea and it tends to make people who enjoy characters they think up rather angry. Take your most recent example, where you stab who I'm going to assume is Grey in the back. Rather than say "With a twirl of his fingers, two daggers spun from the air into the first one

OOC: Alright, firstoff, Grey's profile is in the story forum. You can choose who you fight here, either him or Janus. My Janus is not a roman god or anything like that, I explained his backstory in there. The name "Janus" is just a name I thought was pretty cool. It's got nothing to do with mythology at all.

There are two versions of him; Master of Mediocrity and Explorer of Time, a third one's on its way as soon as I start up a story arc I've been thinking of for awhile. This one is Explorer of Time, since in his timeline he meets up with Grey after he becomes Explorer of Time. Explorer of Time's the stronger version; the third version's going to be even stronger, but since the character is capable of time travel, it's safe to assume I can use all three forms at will, they have their advantages and disadvantages.

He's pretty much human, his race literally means a being that is given human characteristics. I'm not gonna use the Agents either, I just mentioned them as a story-based allusion. They have their own fights and story arcs as well, I try to develop my characters in and out of the story forum, I find it really helps me think of different ways to use them in Sim-Battles. If you want to get into this and really have some fun with it, you might want to try the Story Forum as well. It's pretty cool.

So basically from here, you can either fight Grey or Janus. And also, thanks very much for that Roman god information, I didn't know that before.

OoC: I can't find a profile for "grey", there are two janus's and for the first janus, the species/ race thing is something long,I don't understand. What I found for Janus:

Definitions of janus on the Web:

(Roman mythology) the Roman god of doorways and passages; is depicted with two faces on opposite sides of his head

Is he human? Which one are you using? are you going to use other "Agents"? And are you using Grey AND Janus? How many people am I fighting at once?
I'm confused.

Grey: "Janus, take the other side, we'll surround him!"

As Phage fell into the dumpster, one figure appeared at each end of the alleyway the dumpster was contained in. They slowly approached the dumpster. Grey drew his gun. Janus slung his bag off of his back. They each stared intenesly at the dumpster, waiting for the man to come out...

Janus: "Grey, be careful here. We don't know what he can do. You're going to have to defend yourself if I get knocked out, so be ready for anything. If you get into too much trouble, call Red. He and the others will help you escape."

Grey: "What about you?"

Janus: "There's a reason why I hired you."

Anger and rage filled Phage. Then confusion. Why had He sent for Phage already... It was happening too fast. He was walking on the sidewalk now. The humans avoided him and stayed silent around himas if they say a word to him, they knew their fate. Their fate as an anonymous victim as the cause of the city's death. Phage let them live only for the feeling of society and beings around him. The flapping of wings interrupted his thoughts. Behind him, were three holy angels, rapidly chasing. Phage, sweating took a glimpse back at a dim glow of lights. He made a quick leap onto a building's roof. A few cars and civilians walked and drove around below, seeming to not notice the heavenly beings which had a lust for Phage's blood. Shooting a dart of flaming energy, Phage shot down one of the angels then leaped across the buildings' roofs. Behind him lay a glowing body slowly levitating into the air, back to heaven to be healed and yet two more still coming.
Shit.
With a final leap he fell off the building then into a dark green dumpster. Wet bannanas and leftover meatloaf covered his bloody body. Wiping off some apple sauce from his hair, he cursed at himself for being so stupid. He grasped the wound on his chest as the angels were leaping over. They were gone. Finally.
Suddenly, 2 pairs of footsteps were heard. They were coming, coming, coming so close...

As the rush of dark energy erupted upwards within the city, Grey's head snapped in the direction of the explosion...

Grey: "Looks like we've found our man. Let's go!"

Grey and Janus moved swiftly, knowing the being would not be in the same place for long...

Intro:
IC:
It was dark. Several glowing figures moved through the alley. They wore cloaks of white and bore heavenly blades. Godly power covered their bodies like blankets. They were the sinless angels of God, Himself. They were looking for someone. Their eyes darted around. The leader pointed over at the dumpster then led the others outside. Phage was behind a dumpster, glaring out at the angels. Near him was a Z4 BMW. Several other cars were lined up beside him. But no humans in sight. Only his capturers. He could take one, but not this many. There were too many for him to handle at once. Sweat rolled down his face as the angels walked past without a word, not noticing him. The footsteps faded away. With a huff, he scrambled up from the back of the dumpster. Pain struck his body. He looked down. A shining sword was pierced into his body. Behind him, an angel stood, its blade into Phage
