Would people get off the celebrate thing already. It's a statement, not a celebration...geebus.

Toxic, take a look into file-sharing, wasn't hard to find a copy by just typing 'War of the Worlds' in for an MP3 search.

...People celebrate this day because of this event?

Well, fuck me... Sounds inappropriate and dumb.

And to think that in 10 or so years of knowing about it, I've never herad it. There has to be a copy of the broadcast somewhere, right?

Jeff Wayne's WotW > Orson Welles WotW. It's more faithful to the book too :0

Anyone heard the album?

Ahmm...I won't take you up on the bed thing but at least I figured out what the whole deal was for the sarcasm.

No I didn't make the thread over the fact that it might be related to 666, yes I did make it because I just finally found the MP3 recently, it said 10-30 and I went...wow...10-30 is close...maybe I'll post something about it.

So I did. Maybe I should've left out 66. [shrugs]

I figured that I might as well post about it just for reflection's sake and the fact that some people might not know about it. Was I planning on doing this every year...no...why would I? I hardly ever post in this forum anyways.

So yea...go listen to it if you haven't already.

No, I think it's good. Are we going to do this every year? I mean, this year it's 66, but NEXT year it'll be 67, which is 33 less than 100.

No, I realize it's perfectly normal to start a thread on War of the Worlds, especially on its birthday. But the thread title is funny, because it seems to be mostly celebrating the fact that it turned 66. I'm sorry I made you angry Hiryuu. Let's make up and go back to bed.

I'm glad that the Maddox wannabes like the fact that I pointed it out at least. Better than nothing.

I'm glad we as a society are moving beyond only celebrating anniversaries on round numbers. Hey, did you know a lot of other things happened today, too? I don't know what they were, but a lot of them were pretty important. =(

Yeah, I don't see how anyone could not know what today is. There were several documentaries on television about it today. That, and we got Friday off to commemorate it.

There's people outside right now (it's 1 in the morning mind you) that are making huge amounts of noise because of the block party they're throwing to celebrate this. I can't sleep with all that noise.

Of course, how could I sleep anyway. What, with this monumental occasion and all. My parents are celebrating by making a smorgasboard of food and everyone down there is in good spirits as they celebrate this historical landmark of history. Some celebration festivities have raged out of control up there in Seattle and the riot police were called in.

Hi Hiryuu!

Well, it's a little late, but I dunno too many people that know of the radio broadcast, so I figured I might as well briefly mention that War of the World (at least the radio broadcast of it) is 66 today.

If you dunno what that is, it what literally sent people screaming into the street in 1938. Check this Website or Google...and you could probably find the full broadcast of it on file sharing, as there was a record release of it a long time ago.

Course then I dunno...unless we had a mass failure of reporting in the entire world...I doubt the could ever happen again unless it was really the real thing. I mean figure, back then, radio was relatively new, and pretty much the only line of mass communication, so it was a lot more believable then than it is now. But...who knows?
