Iran has massive strategic oil reserves. With the world price of oil approaching higher and higher peaks, they are getting tonnes of money by selling off stock of oil. I don't think that they are having any monetary woes right now.

North Korea on the other hand has a rising cannibalism rate due to the massive poverty.

My name is North Korea. I keep on telling you guys I have nuclear weapons...And I'm starving....I swear to God, look at my streets, people are eating their dying children!

The Soviet Union wasn't exactly rolling in the dough, yet they managed to get lots of nukes, ya know.

Seriously, like I said, depends what you mean by "threat".

They can attack us if they want, and kill millions of americans, but is that likely?

Alot of people didn't even know about Kim Jong IL or North Korea before 2002, but now it's everywhere and everyone knows about North Korea and the evil dictator who wants to attack everyone.

I would be very surprised if North Korea did in fact attack the United States or one of it's "allies". However, it is possibly a threat to its neighbouring countries.

Last I heard, North Korea tried to better relations with Western nations but that feel apart after THEY told us they had nuclear weapons.

They told us they had them and tried to improve relations with us. They also have a peace-treaty with South Korea if I remember right.

I don't see Korea as a threat.

That "don't do shit until we get hurt" attitude is a factor in 9/11, right?

that's exactly it. they are waiting for osmeone to fuck with them first so they can use them in defence. and who wants to bet all the money in the world that its going to be the US? Yeah, exactly.

When I'm thinking of it, I don't think they will attack anyone at all, because if they do, they will be totally eliminated and killed by nuclear bombs from every corner of the world (woooo, careful with that! )

Nah, it would be a nuclear winter before he killed most of the earth's population. -.-

I don't see any reason why they would nuke Sweden at least, but at least they are going to hurt our global economics if they bomb a big US city.

I'm not worried, Nukes hadn't been used since the Second world war, and thoose are weak compared to the ones we have today...

Simplicity is really beautiful when it is used so gallantly as it was here.

not really, "threat" can be any million ways that North Korea's potential actions could be detremintal to US interests

Anyways, I would guess that threat in this case would just mean that they could do damage and that there is a possiblity that they will.

Anyways, I never justified my vote, them being a threat, and I guess I might as well do this now. I would say they are a threat because of the point that we aren't on the best terms with them. If they shot a nuke we could do nothing to stop it, but we could retaliate. Oh and Erkdog brought up another point. Why would they not allow inspectors to stay there if they have nothing to hide?

Iraq never was a threat .

North Korea could nuke the west coast. They probably wouldn't, but it's possible. Depends what you mean by threat, yeah .

unless they do something tous first, we need to keep our fat american asses out of there. Yeah, that's right. I see no reason for us to be directly involved unless they directly threaten america, or they have attacked us. Yeah, you say that's too late...but of course, like I said, there's ways of telling if they are hinting at something against us. and that dosnt uinvolve sending in hundreds of americans and bombing the fuck out of things. Gee, can you tell I'm not thrilled with how the world works these days?

I don't believe NK is a threat. They wouldn't use their nukes offensively or to blackmail anyone, so.. it's not an issue. I don't see proliferation as a problem either, since I don't think NK really cares about destroying America or whoever and really doesn't want to be implicated in association with terrorists. Besides, if terrorists wanted nukes, they'd probably have an easier time getting them from Pakistan or something.

While I wouldn't positively say there's no North Korean problem, I wouldn't say that they're a threat in any meaningful sense.

They may be a threat, but I don't think they will attack unless they have a good reason. But their little, isolated country is a strange political question. Why the heck do they want to create their land as a prison where almost no imformation comes in or out? They don't even have a reason for why, but I may know little about them at all...

And unlike Sweden, we are allied with the US (through NATO). But I don't think they will come here... (I'm more afraid of terrorists from the Middle East, they have threatened Norway quite times)

I haven't cast my vote yet, don't know exactly what I think...
