They should make an Anime about a computer game or an hacker war.

HehHeh...Can you imagine? It would be LIKE: "I MOVE MY PIECE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BOARD, AND UPGRADE TO KING, THEN I DESTROY YOUR LIFEPOINTS,MEANING I WIN" |

If one takes a look at the ending statement of Kazuki Takahashi in the last volume of Yu-Gi-Oh DM, then he was basically saying that the series was designed to represent conflict and strife and other important day to day things. He just symbolized it within the Game theme of Yu-Gi-Oh.
Granted that the American version doesn't do a THING for this, but at least people who know the original story can actually see reality symbolized within the storyline of YGO. |

Go isn't the same as checkers. It's closer to othello, though it's really nowhere near similiar.
But yeah, it's an odd base for an anime/manga, and there probably is some manga based on checkers out there somewhere as well. |

Wow without words you summed up the entire series... Sad isn't it...
I know the series is repeditive, but it has its good moments and they use good stratigies every once in a while, and the card game is kick ass. |

Apparently the Japanese version of Shaman King is good. But I just can't see it.
And the Shonen Jump! manga for Yu-Gi-Oh is still half-decent... |

i see...yeah, I too watch the show, simply because none of the stuff on FoxBox is appealing and everything else at that time in the morning has nothing else good. some of the "special" parts are good and I must watch. Otherwise, I'm not die hard fan who must watch every single show... |

well the majority who watch animes like this are little kids. And they arent really smart at that age, so they just go wit the flow and watch it watch it and watch it...You see...I admit this show is repetitive and kiddy, but I am still going to watch it, because I have nothing better to do in the morning. |

well, this is the problem with long running animes, they become predictable. However, I wonder how these types of anime keep up their popularity. If the people who watch it know it is predictable, what about keeps them coming back? This is sorta something I'd like to know... |

yea. the show is VERY repetitive. Especially this new season. There's only been like 5 eps, and I've seen the seal of oricalcos used like...10x...It's retarded...you know the main character aint gonna die, and get his soul tooken away...so you can predict the battle once they even summon that stupid seal. Crap, once the put that card on the field, just stop watchin the ep, cus u know yugi gonna win. And its the same every season..you know yugi gonna win the final battle and save the world. The end. Ok, lets make another retarded story line, and have yugi save the world again!!! And lets make a new card that every bad guy uses in every single battle!!!!YAY!!!! I kindof feal bad admitting to watching this show now...I am so lame... |

acturally..they do. It's called "Hikaru No Go".
And I must confess that I watch this show on saturday mornings.. And this new season is kindof getting away from the card game...I mean, the monsters are alive and all.. |

Every time I think of YuGiOh, I think of this kid who used to work at the same camp as me as a counselor. He got fired (and spent a night in jail) for stealing YuGiOh cards on night out. How pathetic is that? |

But back on topic... Usually the Japanese versions of anime are untapped. I've seen the japanese version of Gundam wing show nudity and the pilots dying in their cockpits. So it's of high interest not to underestimate uncut anime, even if it is Yu-Gi-Oh... |

Actually..... The REAL plot of Yu-Gi-Oh! is more about mind games and riddles than it is that damn card game. The first series, the real Yu-Gi-Oh!, was about egyptian kings, those Millenium Items, and the deadly games the kings played. One of the powers of the items was the ability to torture a person's mind to incredible extent, so long as you gained dominion of their mind through beating them in a mental game, hence the whole "Penalty Game" thing mentioned whenever Yugi would own someone.
The real series is overall much darker, more sinister than the Duel Monsters card game series, which was a sequel based on the incredible popularity of the issue of the manga featuring the Duel Monsters game, which appeared once, and never again in the original series. It was so popular that it got a series of its own, hence the 99% dialogue anime known to Americans as Yu-Gi-Oh!.
I..... think that's how the story goes.
Ummm... No. Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters is basically Yu-Gi-Oh! everything after Pegasus shows up. It's not a sequel |

That, and the card game only consisted of a single story arc in the manga, but it was the one that caught on the most with audiences. A whole slew of other games were featured - my favorite being the D&D clone. |
