-Off topic- Macbee, I remember you once made a super mario hack. I hink it was super mariuo dream world. Any chance of releasing it? -Off Topic-

The screens are looking good.

Chill Penguin, the "?" blocks fade the colors just like in the original SMB1. I don't know when the new-old Yoshi will be done. I believe Yoshi appears in the Game Boy version of SMB1 and if it's true, maybe I use those sprites.

The game is just a conversion of SMB1. And, as you said, Mario will have the SMW powerups to get an easier time and maybe find some secrets (hint, hint).

Nothing revolucionary, just fun to play.

Ooo... tell me that the ? blocks fade in and out just like SMB1. Also, when will the 8-bit Yoshi gfx screen shots be out? Will the entire game be only SMB1 or just use the SMB1 gfx (if so, the game will be easy will all the enhancements Mario gets in SMW)?

Hello again! Yes, Mario will use a cape and ride Yoshi with the 8-bit look! I am planning to release the hack in January.

By the way, another screenshot:

Surprisingly, I really like how it looks so far. If you create custom "8-bit looking" graphics for Mario's spin jump, and finish making every thing mix better (get rid of the original SMW gfx completely... might take awhile) I'd like to see it finished. How are the cape and yoshi going to work though?

I think you should complete the hack. I haven't seen a hack with SMB1 Mario and I'd love to play it. You should use the SMAS music and the flagpole from SMB1 for the exit point.

very nice. i cant wait to play it. I hope that u used that demoworld hack that contains the supermario allstars music. Cause using smb1 theme music would help create atmostphere.

w00t! you changed mario's gfx as well.

by the way, change the goal point too. Try to make it with the goal point custom block. Almost everyone still uses the standard smw goal point, and that's....bleh.

And about the looking of the game, I am aware of the possible rejection. But I am hacking mostly to have fun, and I know it's impossible to please everyone. Thanks for your feedback
Kickass. I'd rather have the SMB1 graphics than badly modified SMW graphics.

Dragon Master, these screens will change a lot. The game will look like the original Super Mario. Your question is good, because the big feature of this hack will be the possibility of playing Super Mario 1 with the Spin Jump, Yoshi and the cape....

I'm confused. Why is the M in the middle of the time sign?

Also, a lot of people will criticize you for your choice of styles. I will be one of them if it's inconsistent

And Kratos:

1) I already visited that thread, but the link is broken. That's why I asked (and still aking) the Block Inserter.

2) I don't want to make some characters looking like Goombas. Trust me, I am very familiar to the sprite hacking concept. I want enemies ACTING like them - with the same movements and the same way to die.

3) The reason for the "PS2" thing was to make a silly joke with the abreviations of Sony's Playstation and Playstation 2. Sense of humor to laugh of absurd or stupid situations is a good thing.

1. Hmm, so it is...

2. You are confusing actual sprite hacking with giving things different graphics. It is quite possible to make something act like the SMB goombas with sprite hacking.

3. Oh, I caught it, I just ignored it. I thought it was rather stupid.

4. I wasn't meaning to act superior, I just always talk superfluously. There is no real reason to snap at me for it.

1. ... Do you not have eyes? Because if you had eyes you would see this thread, go in to it, and see a link to the block inserter in it.

2. Yeah, it's called sprite hacking, and it's a relatively untapped field. Check back in two months.

3. A second PS is properly called PPS, not PS2.

Atma X: I already played that Castlevania-Mario game. The SMB1 GFX are beautiful, but in my hack I will do my best to let the game looking like the original Mario from 1985.

Trashykins, thanks for the comment. I'm glad to know that my old and incomplete hack still gives some moments of fun to people.

Iamhiro and Tailsixs, I believe that I solved my problem. There's no way to make a perfect rip of SMB1 sprites - I will have to create new sprites for Mario.
