less ROM-hacking, more researching and documenting OoT, MM and MQ (while sorta specializing on OoT), although there is often code hacking going on in the forums. Hacking the OoT ROM itself is something i already thought about but i don't really know where to start besides corrupting (where i never get useful results from, on whatever ROM i try)...

That's very interesting and all, but what's ZSO?

Alright, just to let you know, any screenshot without the HUD has already been found and documented by ZSO, as that's where most of this came from (I just did some further exploring)

Secondly, the pillars in that room lean from using the Specific Things Lean code. It's required to get there from the way I did, heh.

Lastly, I haven't found the data for the rooms yet -- nor will I, for the simple reason I can't do much work on this now thanks to me not having an uberfast computer nor a highspeed intarweb connection

Disch: Thanks, I'll remember that.

Corrupting almost anything but what I did almost always crashed the game. The first few times it crashed on start, next few crashed after the N64 logo, and then the ones after that after the File Select fade. This leads me to believe that those ranges corrupted a) vital code dealing with loading those things, b) the data for those things, or c) the actual room data. However, I cannot look into this farther.

-------------------

Continuing, no, I have not found the room data (or at least the room data specifically), and making an editor would be extremely complicated and beyond my abilities.

Alllso, there is no need for a ubertraction code, as there's Moonjump.

Next, the screenshots without the HUD are from the Beta Quest, since the way it works removes the HUD.

Note; Proj. 64 comes with codes for the BQ, use them and go nuts.

Furthermore, these were in V1.0, so feel free to get a ROM and corrupt the last range (50000-60000, inc/dec by something, I did +20 for those shots) and try climbing up ladders... setting it to +7F will make him move even more aquardly and using the slingshot will goof up the camera... going through a tunnel as child link will kill you from falling ().

I just realized, what happened to the HUD on the lower pictures?

He must have edited the room header.

That would be awesome.

If anybody found even just a gameshark code for Uber-Traction, I would go back and set up my N64.

Because, I would love to be able to walk up anything, it would do tons for exploration.

Also, about Ruto (is that her name? The zora girl?) She's on that cliff? I thought Link slid down steep cliffs. Did you fint ubertraction bytes

Awesome. I've been playing around with the beta stuff for quite some time. I should put it on my site.
Any idea what version they used though? There's V1.0, V1.1 and V1.2 USA, Japanese, and probably UK too.

BTW yes, that's the spirit temple, but some of the pillars are falling.

Oh, by the way: 01 or 20 is a better byte pattern to use than random when corrupting; It's reproducible and will generally produce noticeable results. (Say you used 00 and wiped out the graphics, you don't know if you changed them or just screwed up the code. With a value that doesn't just produce a blank tile, you know.)

Awesome work, XKeeper.
Just wondering, where are you going with this? I mean, are you making an editor, or what?

those are pretty nice finds there, very nice indeed

Its the spirit temple?

Thats what the graphics looked like, but the odd slant in the room is what threw me off...

But I haven't played it in awhile.

And yes, the strange object IS the Zora Saphire.

Wow mon, a lead to Zelda hacking, guess the N64 editors are moving in.

Strangeplace.jpg is one of the two Iron Knuckle rooms in the Spirit Temple. The 'strange object' is the Zora's Sapphire.

[cut and pasted from ZSO's forums]

First off, I've started corrupting the ROM randomly to see if I could find anything...

My corrupter says there's 2000000 bytes [sounds right], so I started around 1000000-2000000 [yes, huge range, I know]

All corruptions unless noted were done with random bytes.

Freeze at start before doing anything.

17F0000-2000000 gives a crash after the N64 logo...

1AF0000-2000000 gives a crash after the F Select screen fades to game start, which makes me believe I've stumbled on the range for either a) the ASM for that particular part (it's an unstarted save) or b) the map data there has been corrupteded

Corrupting ranges 500000 to 600000 (all bytes increased by 10) will result in a funny ladder climb, the down button making you climb too. Trying to climb down it via getting off and back on at the top will cause him to jump around and eventually fall off to the right.

More later.

EDIT------------------------

Would anyone mind telling me where this is? When exploring the Orcarina Pedistal area (namly in the back, where the trees are) I got warped here.

Also found this while near the cliff in BQ 00 (Zora's Domain). Z-Targeting doesnt' work and you can't talk to her, it seems. It's on the hill to the right of Jabu-Jabu.

EDIT 2 ---------------------

Remember the red ice pedistal room? That's the object on the left, and there's a door down that hole behind it.

Interestingly enough, when I went down that hole, the screen turned red, as if it was bloody or something  ... shortly after going thorugh the door and getting out of the water, everything was fine.

When you go through the door. You can only do this if you have the Iron boots on!

A rather strange object found stuck in the cliff just below the Zora above

Edit 4 -------------------------

Alright, evidently going to the ice cave leads to that one place (the one I don't know where it is), which wasn't documented in the beta quest log 01...

Edit 5---------------------
Minor correction. I'm beginning to think that any new updates should just go in a new post and not an edit (spare minor stuff like this)

==================================

Just discovered this.

Evidently, anything that changes the cam position (minus C-UP) will cause Link to do silly things, like this.

For example, I went thorugh a tunnel (crawl) and at the end I ended up falling and dying, with the time while crawing constantly shifting between the tunnel and outside it
