I believe you need to reset your router and get a firmware update. I remember my Netgear router was not acting like it should an a simple router reset with firmware update fixed it.

Well, it's an uhm.. 4 Port Belkin router if that helps any? Maybe I should update it again, I remember doing that but that got reversed in the restoration :o

sounds like your router isn't happy... if it's a low-end one it may not be able to handle all the traffic you're feeding through it. Or it could just be bad, or misconfigured.

Well it has become worse, this all started when I opened the Bit Torrent port on my router (Azureus uses 6881). First the cable would get disconnected for a few seconds, and now sometimes the router just doesn't respond anymore or just disconnect the modem and such. When it doesn't respond anymore (Going to the router will result in 404) I have to use a button to reset it to the original settings. :\

I get this too, I think it's got something to do with either my old ratty network card, or Windows Firewall/services. I just put up with it since it happens between my comp and my parents comp (the "router" that it happens on) and only affects 1 machine's connection for a bit.

The cable could be damaged (check for rodents ), the modem might be messed up, or it might be a problem on their end. If nothing else works, call the ISP and ask about it.

Yesterday I poked some holes in my NAT for Bit Torrent and now I get a green smiley all the time and such and my download speeds are way better, but now every now and then Windows comes up with a little note saying "A network cable has been unplugged". This last for two to three seconds and then it reconnects and my modem has to make a connection to my ISP again because it got disconnected. Anyone know what causes this?

Edit: And no I don't accidentally hit the network cable, it's set up so that I can't touch it :p, atleast not by accident.
