Haven't played '01 or '02 (can't find it either)...so I couldn't argue against it. '97 would come up as #2 for me. '97's storyline I believe is a lot better than '98's...but overall gameplay is lacking in 97 where it was fixed in '98. '99 I have on emu and on the PSX...they started adding strikers and the damned ability point system... ... ...
Not always is a fighter liked because of it's storyline...but for everything else. :\ |

I really do not see why people like '98 so much. I mean, it is a decent game but I don't believe that it is among the best. I personally like 97, 99, 2001, and 2002 the best. However, the two games whose styles I am most accustomed to are '97 and '02.(I use Ryo, Terry, and Joe) When I say style, I mean the moves and all that. (I've noticed that the games add/take away moves of certain characters or diff. buttons have to be pressed to execute them. '99 for example kinda screwed me up because of Terry's burning knuckle in which his feet do not leave the ground. Also, in most of the games, they change the range of Terry's weak and strong power raves. It screws me up sometimes.) Recently, when I have tried downloading '02, I always get the 1 v 1 Spanish version of the game. Maybe its my emulator(s)? (I have Mame32b, Mame32k, Mame32g, Mame32p, Mame32sk, NeoMame, and NeoMame32. Most of which I downloaded off of eMule.) |

Yeah, the one that plays KOF2k3. I agree, not only is '98 better, it's my favorite of the series. |

If MAME32 doesn't work...I don't know what will...0.87u2 is the latest there and I've been using MAME32 since my 200 days back when the version was around 0.37...(course on my 200 most games ran like shit...even Bubble Bobble had it's troubles). |

Call me pathetic, but I have never, ever gottem MAME to work. There are so many good roms out there that I enjoyed in the arcades in the past, and every time I try to play them, I get a corrupted ROM, no sound, some kind of settings error, etc., etc.
Is there some nice simple one-stop site for obtaining a working version of MAME for Windows XP and getting it to run properly? I've downloaded so many useless files and the frustration finally got to me so I gave up. |

I can't use Kailerra (at least for MAME). I can see all the games, and people, but I can't see conversations or see what I say myself  . |

Well then I'd get a different emu...because the only reason I'd use MAME32k would be for that reason...it's specifically designed for it. |

Yea...but I've only done it once, and it was recently with this emu...it worked rather well barring my slow system (but decent connect) but I got chat flood hacked by some lamer (typing 'WEAR A BIKINI' over and over...wasn't even in our game) and we got killed.
So it's not secure. |
