I also have lsass.exe doing pretty much constant writes to the HD (the light doesn't come on, but the IO Writes and IO Write Bytes keep going up), but I don't have that folder. Perhaps the program's bugged out?
I know you can't kill the task in the Windoze task manager, but try it in DOS's (tasklist and taskkill).
Hmm, Google doesn't mention the folder at all...

And for god's sake is there other programs in the task manager taking up cpu time than lsass.exe?

Wait, which os are you using? XP? 98? Have you tested safe mode and see if it does that in there?

I've heard nothing of it before, I really haven't. My best advice, if you don't have an up-to-date anti-virus (first off, GET ONE) or firewall (GET ONE)...then I'd go here and try to see if something doesn't come up.

If it's creating files on it's own without it being some sort of system cache...I'm going to assume it's a virus...it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I'm just wondering what program/virus/trojan/etc uses this, because while watching the Sasser fix tool scan I noticed there were more than 80000 files (10.5GB) in format YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS-????????, no extension. There seems to be about 2-4 files created every second ranging from 1k to 500k...

... and I can't view the folder in Explorer (it just shows the flashlight folder thing forever ) and in DOS, using rd didn't work (it just kinda sat there )

Plus, the HDD light's been on all the time and lsass.exe has been constantly reading and writing from the disk

On ocassion (3 times today) the computer restarted ...

Any and all help would be appreciated, this is beginning to piss me off
