I got to the top of Tribulations. Gabriel was shiteasy. Beat him without taking damage, beat him under 5 minutes, and actually beating him. That was the trophies I got.

Now I'm climbing the sphere, Fayt is currently level 136. My chars are Fayt, Mirage and Maria.

I've started it again, after Adrian finished most of it.
I'm so happy we bought a turbo controller, because I can't see anyone getting 100 points in bunny racing and still be sane afterwards.
I'm on 56 points after a few hours of watching movies and doing other stuff in general while having the turbo on with a glass on top of the x button XD
You know, a few posts back here, I was longing to get a mage. Now I'm wondering why.
For one, I think the game has only 2 out of 10 characters that mainly use magic, and two, they suck at it. Why don't they at least get the advantage of having a faster casting time for basic spells such as healing?
Anything they do, everyone else can do better. Sophia's only saving grace is her revive spell. It's not nearly as good as any reviving item, but it's handy in dungeons when you're running low on fresh sages/whatever the other buyable one is called.
Or actually, it would've been her saving grace if she was available before disc 2, during those asslong dungeons such as the prison.
I love playing it, but SO2 seemed to have a better balance.

Ah yes, if anyone wants to get the panty shot of the century, find Nel's maid outfit for vs mode and have her controlled by the game (so she'll be standing on the right side of the screen when starting). I wish I could have that in my layout instead

VGFreak877: You have 4-7k attack and do that much damage?
I got over 7k attack with maria and she only does around 8k damage with normal attack and almost 20k (x3) with her triple kick. I got her a laserweapon with max used slots (8x500attack) and then 2 boots of prowess (30% to attack and def x2).
I want to get the super weapons so I can do the fol trick and get myself a few millions, I only got 1 million so far and item creation can really drain your cash storage :\

my party was Fayt. Cliff and Adray, fayt being able to do 10k damage, cliff 12k, and adray healing if needed, or basically doing nothing the whole time...I also had critical on for fayt, and once took 30k in a hit...took me about 6 or 8 minutes to kill him...mainly because my low level...which seems to happen for all rpg's, but I always manage to get though the tough battles....yeah, I got the exact same ending you did...one of the best ps2 Rpg's in my opinion

Right now, I'm working on the side quests after beating the game. I'm in the Maze of Tribulations. So far, I have completed the first three levels of that. The 3rd level boss was a joke -- it took about 3 seconds to beat him with Cliff and Maria. After activiting the elevator in Level 3, you come across a Merchant much like the same one in SO2's Cave of Trials. He sells Tri-Emblems, Grab Bags, and Santa's Boots. Buying the Santa's Boots item would probably be your best bet (5M FOL) -- since you can acquire all the Tri-Emblems you want when you sleep at an inn (with a small probability however). Right now, I only have 2.6M FOL, so I have some fight/selling to do. As far as levels and ATK/DEF, here's the way I have it now (the characters I have in my current party):

Fayt is at Level 85 with a total of about 3,800 ATK and about 700 DEF.
Cliff is at Level 85 as well with a total of about 5,200 ATK and about 400 DEF.
Maria is at Level 78 with a total of 6,200 ATK and a little over 300 DEF.

My defense is nowhere near the capacity I want it to be. And from the looks of the strategy to beat the ultimate boss (Freya), I'm going to be leveling up and using Item Creation for a while yet. I figure I'll log about 160 to 180 hours altogether when I beat everything.

And then there's Sphrere 211. When I played it the first time during the regular storyline, I skipped past the first half and went straight to 211. I wanted to play that as a whole after I had beaten the game.

What's the highest amount of damage you've done in one hit? I acquired the Max Damage 50,000 Battle Trophy for accomplishing a 60,000-point damage hit. I haven't hit that since though. Now, the most damage I'm doing is between 40-50,000 points of damage for one hit. Which is funny since my ATK points are a lot higher now then when I got that Battle Trophy. I love kicking those 500,000 HP monsters on the second level of the Maze of Tribulations -- 2 of them at once, in fact!

It took me about 100 hours to beat the game entirely (due to loads of time devoted to leveling up and using Item Creation). My party consisted of Fayt, Cliff, and Maria and the levels averaging around 75 or so. My defense really wasn't that great, but I managed to kick his ass anyway.

Legion, you beat Gabriel Celesta in the Maze of Tribulations huh? How long did it take you to beat him? He has 1M HP! If you get to the Valkyrie Profile bosses, let me know what you're stats are (if you don't mind).

And I also finally finished the game. Clock at 52h. My Fayt is at level .. uh, almost 80, probably 78 or something. My team during the whole end dungeon was Fayt, Cliff and Maria.

Spoiler:
Single tear. It was a pretty good ending, some of it was really really obnoxiously cheesy. Sophia was the source of that, especially her 'scenario', post-credits. I wanted to shoot that little kid there. Anyhow, I don't think I got any special endings since at the very end Fayt was just in a forest alone saying that college will be closed for a while and that he should stay out of the way for a while etc.

Ending boss was piss easy, although I had 7.8k attack with maria so ... took me less than a minute to kill his second form.

It has some 'connection' to the Matrix but all in all I think it's pretty independant, everything is built on something. I like the Matrix twists alot better than the regular, go rescue the world from darkness (Hi guy-who-tried-to-make-an-rpg-in-game-creation-center).

The game itself, in it's whole, is great. I give it a full score.

Now I just have 100h left of optional stuff to do

I killed it so many times by running into the wall after running through the blockade part XD
It looks funny when it falls down.
Or try to get to that part where it has to jump across gaps, it's hilarious to see it fall down. And strangly satisfactory too XD

Valentine, use the first hauler. (The first option, forgot the name.)
That's the only way you'll be able to get through. It's actually pretty fucking tricky and did cause me to curse up a storm the first couple of times. Ugh, I hated that part.

EDIT: Yeah, Sofie just trumped my post. It takes good timing, but you'll get it eventually. I had 3% left when I did it.

I had to check gamefaqs for that bit too, since the hauler that can get you there gets stressed really fast -.-
I think it's left, right, left, left, and always left after that, with the steady one. Slow down for rocks, and spead up when you have to run through the crap blocking your way, after which you have to slow down straigth away again to make the left turn speedlimit. Just stop whenever it gets stressed, because that nulls stress.

Wow... I'm so far behind you guys I really just can't do the fighting system, I'm relying on luck and button bashing (which is actually working pretty well) I'm actually really stuck on the bit where you have to ride the hauler around the cavern, I have no idea where I'm supposed to be going.

Just find yourself a good leveling monster and get a few levels more than recommended (gamefaqs has a brief 4D mode walkthrough that indicates recommended levels, just get above that average. Not too hard to do), and you'll be fine with the equipment you can find.
I barely did any item creation so far, and the only serious problems I've had were Robin Wind (AI controlled characters die lots if you neglected to up their mp <<; ) and the Marquis the second time, because of his constant Doom Raid. I'm very overleveled right now thanks to the spiderbots in Moonbase (don't forget they respawn if you walk out and in, which can rake up levels really fast).
Legion, you have to actually get her to that level for her to be useful. She moves too slow for me, thus dying if anything pulls off AoE moves, because she's too slow to evade them. And her charge time for weak attacks takes too long. She should be your long distance attacker (because of her low hp), but she's only worth something up close. And up close, she dies.
It might be different for you, but so far even Sophia holds her own better for me up close than Maria does. Which is ridiculous, considering she's a mage.

Get some money then!

My weapon for Fayt cost me about 2 million Fol.

I have four +500 ATK mods on it AND three boots of prowess (refined) which adds up to an increase of 90% ATK and DEF

It rules =D

I hear if you get your DEF mod really high (Which is harder than ATK), then Freya wont even be able to damage you. Can't confirm though. I do know that really low level creatures do 0 damage to me now no matter how hard they try.

DUDE! No.

All female characters suck compared to Maria. Her triple kick and Energy Burst are like, the best moves in the game. Especially EB.

With the proper weapon and level, you can do 200-450k damage a pop. Booyakashi!

I leveled everyone on Moonbase. Earned me the 5 and 10 level up BT in one battle
My active party is all lvl 50, and the lowest leveled ones are Sophia and Maria. I've heared Maria's suposed to be good, but she's so slow in moving around that my chain always breaks (and if I don't control her, she melees herself to death -.-).
I saw Styx has some exp rich enemies, so I'll get my ass there and level some more
There's something bothering me though; why can you only determine two out of eigth characters?
That's somewhat of a letdown to me, since I wouldn't mind trading Adlai for anyone else really (he seems to be the Noel of SO3), even though I don't even have him yet.
I got Nel and Peppita as my optionals. Peppita was rocking Moonbase from lvl 13 on (Ice Daggers rox ), and it took me two battles to get her to that level <<;
I've got my doubt about the usefulness of her dances (they're executed so slow that not getting interrupted is impossible), but she's fast to move around, and feels more responsive than Maria.
I'm going to have to replay this game 3 more times, because I am not letting Nel out of my party, ever.
She can singlehandedly kill whatever with Flying Guillotine. And to think you have her the entire game

Leno, when I wrote about the lack of playable females, I only had Nel. And no one of the females is available for a very big portion of the game.
That's something that bothers me greatly; most of the characters (not just females) get available so late that it takes alot of willpower to test them out, especially if they're lvl 1, or just generally extremely underleveled.
