For the non-metroid people in this thread, let me point something out before you make yourself sound stupid. That is not "A Metroid" This is a Metroid. That thing that he replaced Mario with is supposed to be Samus Aran, the main character in the Metroid series. I know it is strange that the series is called Metroid when you don't play as Metroid, but keep in mind, do you play as Zelda in the Zelda series? No. There ya go. |

=/ In my opinion, you shouldn't dabble in your own created graphics until you have a firm grip on how to implement them. He rushed in head-first, asked stupid questions, got discouraging answers, and tried his hand anyway; thusly, it's his own fault that he recieves such harsh criticism. Granted, I more or less did the same thing minus the graphics, but at least I never tried that stupid "I'm a newbie who doesn't know any better" excuse. I mean, look at Juggling Joker's first and only hack, Just Another Mario Hack. It's clearly awesome despite the fact that it was his first attempt; thusly that excuse holds no water. |

Come on you guys, chill out. He is just trying to make a hack. You all started out this way right? Not exactly like this but in your own unique way.. Give him a break. I think he is doing well for a start. The palettes are kind of wierd, but you know how to fix them right?
This is exactly how I started out. Trial and error. I'll give you a tip laptop: If you want to stick around here, you might not want to type in all caps or make one word posts.
I say instead of discouraging newbies, encorage them and teach them when they ask for help. |
