Well maybe GW can convert WMAs, but I doubt it can convert everything. Winamp plugins for it always skip MIDIs for some reason.

Or just use Winamp, download this plug-in, copy it to the plugins directory, and switch your output plugin to the out lame plugin. Then play your WMA file.

Alternatively, you could always grab Goldwave and just convert whatever WMA file to MP3. It's not that hard.

Mine also refuses to play the WMAs it claims it can play. However, I know of a method to convert any audio format to WAV.

1) Open the file in whatever program can play it.
2) Open Sound Recorder and record 60 seconds of silence. Save this and re-insert it into the current file (bringing the length up to 120, 180, etc) until it's longer than the file you want to convert. (This gets around the 60-second limit.)
3) Go to Edit -> Audio Properties, and click Volume under Sound Recording. Select Stereo Mix, Wave Out mix, or whatever it's called on your system. (If it's not there, go to Options -> Properties, and enable all options under "Show the following volume controls".)
4) Start recording in Sound Recorder, then start playing in the other program. Make sure there are no other sounds during this time. When you're done you should have a WAV of the sound! This method is nice because it can convert any format that any program can play. Have fun finally being able to convert all those MIDIs without spending way too much on a program that doesn't work.

I had that same problem with my MP3 player, said it supports WMA, I don't know if the Windows Media Player version has anything to do with it.

EDIT: I ripped WMA with Windows Media Player version 9, they worked on mine. check with your friend to see which version he has. if he has version 9 I don't know anymore.

Well, a friend of mine recently purchased this spiffy little mp3 player, and it works well and stuff. But, he can't load .wma files onto it, when the booklet or whatever states it does in fact support them. Hmm, any one have a solution? Or if not, a program that can convert wmas to mp3s, or another common music format?
