Rips can be done in two ways to my knowledge:

1) Open up the rom you want to rip graphics from and find the graphics you want. Copy and paste to an ExGFX file.
2) Take a picture of what you want to rip. Put in a 128x64 bmp in 8x8 squares (like in LM) and import it in a tile editor.

Either way, you have to edit the palette yourself.

If course the FAQ can't cover up every single question. Heck, I could write thirty pages of questions and answers, but it would be too much job and it would be harder to find a certain question in it. I might some day write more about overworld editing and some other stuff, but since there aren't any too common questions (in my opinion) any more, I probably won't.

Just curious. Why are you "The Champ"? Did someone declare you this? Or are you just saying it to sound cool.

You rip foregrounds and backgrounds for use by copying them in to your ExGFX files in the proper locations, and you use them by setting them for use in the Super GFX bypass, creating an appropriate custom palette, and constructing the tiles in the 16x16 editor if the tiles you want aren't there by default...

The Champ is here, with a lot of thoughts I would like to share to all SMW hackers and the ones who keep directing me to the newbie threed.

First of all the newbie threed is very helpful, I learned a lot from it. It shows you how to get started, how to use ExGfx, and other MINOR problems. However It does NOT show you how to rip BG, FG, like everyone else has in thier hack. I write this because eyery time I make a threed asking for help with riping GFX from a game as simple as SMAS, someone writes "go to the newbie threed" or "find other threeds about this". I spent a hour looking in every threed I thought could help my problem. I found things pretaining to riping GFX, but it does NOT show you exactly how to do it. But alast, someone finally heard my plea for help, and thier going to work with me to help my hacks a whole lot better than they should. In closing I do thank some people like cpubasic and Kirbyaltheway(something like that) for showing me how to change the status bar name of mario to Luigi and helping me come up with better BG in my hack"Mario is Missing 2". So, the next time I write about GFX ripping remember this; While the newbie threed is very helpful, It dosn't answer ALL your questions.

In other news, my hack of "Dr. Mario World" is about 70% complete. I have new demo showing you the first 2 worlds. You can get it at my website on the bottom of this post. I will make it a link to my site soon (when I learn how to hyperlink on posts) I need replies to see if anyone likes(or care) about my hacks so I can fix the problems in it. At least go to my site and see it. My class is starting so i'm done for now. Thanks for reading, and bigger thanks if you can see where i'm comming from with this.

PS: This post was in no way out of anger, I have respect fro everyone here. Please don't take this as an offense.
