um, nope. they wanted it to be true to the original like in japan. here we go.

IN JAPAN. Red and Green were released. Afterwards, blue was released there. Red and Green used the graphics "pattern" gsc did by using two sets of pokemon graphis. AMERICA gets Japan's Red and Green. Blue had different tileset graphics. They use the same graphics however for the pokemon images as RED japanese, but the tileset graphics from BLUE japanese. These two american game, graphics aside, are RED AND GREEN JAPANESE. We never got the Japanese Blue version - ever there was an american green, we'd have got it. NOW. Fire Red and Leaf Green were made to commemorate the original Pokemon Games, which were RED AND GREEN. Does this make more sence now? I don't want to explain this again

we aren't talking about leaf green, that was the same. okay. Yes. They released THEIR green as OUR blue. Yes. We never got their blue, so basicly if we were ever to have a green it would basicly be their blue. But whatever, heh. ANYWAYS. Yeah. That about it.

i am now 100% more confused than what i started as when i read this thread... seams to me like a little confusion those sprites are just credit images in that game... and offtopic but since green was big in japan i bet they didnt bother converting their green into a blue again like before so they just released it as leafgreen and firered (which is a followup to their old red and green) so it really should have been oceanblue and firered for us(which SHOULD be followups to red and blue versions US)...

here's the thing
i just beat fire red on my game boy and was watching the credits
through the credits, it shows a charizard,
then a venusaur,
then...guess...thats right! a blastoise,
and lastly, a pikachu

so therefore, i can assume that the pictures are not hidden pictures that were for games that they decided not to make or whatever, they were just for the credits

btw, they werent just in game sprites, they looked like they could've been starting screens...but they weren't

there ya go

To reply to the actual topic starter, those images are used in the ending.

....actualy, the missingno glitch is perfectly explained in full in a post of mine in the Pokemon hacking forum, its a thread about Mssingno so just search for it. You'll find you're a little bit off on that, but just a bit

Pokemon Blue was also partially a fix of Red and Green. For example, there was no MISSINGNO. in the Japanese Red and Green. Instead, the game simply crashed if you tried to encounter one. So they made Ketsuban, which means MISSING NUMBER. They probably kept the way to access him in because they were too lazy, they didn't know how to do so, or they didn't realize the potential of the bug. Blue's Pokemon graphics are also those of our Red and Blue. Japanese Red and Green used completely different looking ones that looked like crap (except Porygon, which actually looks better).

If I remember correctly, there's a page in Pokemon Stadium 2's manual (the one showing the classroom's move list) that shows the Green version cart among the Red and Blue carts.

No. That isnt how it was. They had red green blue, we got red and blue. Then they had the special Pikachu yellow version in japan and we got it later as well. Green didnt turn into blue. I have seen translations for the Japanese green version. Its basically blue and red, but more green-ness.

This is how I remember someone saying it:

Jap Green = Eng Blue
Jap Red = Eng Red

So R/G in japan = R/B here.

and B in Japan is our mystical lost one... whatever it's like... >.>

And the first one was four diffrent versions of in Japan. So it's just true for US/Europa.

I do wonder thought if they are going to do a special version of LG/FR, but then making the title screen image and implenting it unused seems pretty wierd for me.

It always comes in threes. Yellow to the Red and Blue (and Green that we didn't get). Crystal to the Gold and Silver. Emerald to the Ruby and Sapphire. So yea...that would make legit sense.

The blaistoise is probably for some Ocean Blue version. I think that LG was first supposed to be a blue version anyway..
