I realy like your CrystalMine2 shot! I tryed to make an animated waterfall in my 1st mw hack but the animation did not workt.

Well alright then, it's not like I don't value YOUR opinion, as you are experienced and often insightful. Still, if nothing else, you must agree that the lighting on the rocks gives a very strange contrast to that of the sprites.

I have to agree with that; I think he should darken the rocks a little (unless it's intended that their's a hole in the cave roof and the sunlight is reflecting off the rocks)
Also, I hate the pipe, I absolutely hate it. That's the one thing from YI's Gfx that I just can't stand (everyone uses it, but it looks horrible, and very cartoony)

@ Everyone:
There's some YI gfx that are cartoony, and some that aren't, you just have to pick though it a little. And another thing is that it's starting to become a little overused by everyone, like SMAS Gfx is (it's alright to use in SMW, please don't over do it).

The YI Tilesets that Hidden Mario used aren't really the cartoony looking Gfx from YI.

The crystal mines are beginning to astonish me less seeing it used in almost everyone's hacks. But the mountain and the castle graphics share different stories.

Other people have hated my opinions in other areas, which I have since reconsidered, but you seem to be the only one who cares about my taste in graphics. Seriously, knuck, I couldn't possibly take your opinions less seriously. All you care about is that graphics look good cool. Even if they're not good, as long as they weren't there originally they're OMG AWESOME! Shut up. I do believe people take you less seriously than they take me.


Uh, sorry to bust your bubbles, but I'm going to have to agree with Knuck on that one for the most part (so there's someone who agrees with Knuck ), because I don't think that all of the YI Gfx are cartoony (I'd say about half of it is and half of it isn't).

Chuck, lava lotus, and piranha plant are what I was looking at. Chuck and lava lotus are as I said decidedly more sharp, but also, if you look at the piranha plant, the lighting on it is decidedly different than the pipe around it, which give it a... conflicting look to it.

To some extent, that's a valid criticism which hack makers should watch out for. However, it really doesn't look that bad, and when it does there are various tricks to get around it. For example, the only thing which looks that bad, imo, is the lava lotus.. possibly the chuck too, to some extent, but that's permissible.

Simple solution: Put lava lotuses on those thin yellow platforms or whatever is in the YI tileset so they don't look so out of place. Works great.

So while you may have a point, the vast majority of people don't think that the graphic styles are that incompatible. I don't.

I only released one demo of this hack and the next demo will come out, when I have finished world 4.

Anyways, there's only one YI tileset ripped.. so far, apparently. Could be more, but just cause there's 5 SS that could be from one level doesn't mean it's too prevelant.

You haven't seen my new hack though, Arkichef. I haven't really posted anything about it outside of a small demo that got few responses before I got any of the backgrounds from GoYo...

What I'm mainly angry at is the ridiculously huge amount of YI rips he's using. I've never liked YI rips, you should know that

I don't got the idea from him. I wanted to rip the chain chomp earlier, but I didn't found the GFX in the ROM.

Just because you can't have a go at him about having a menubar palette problem...who cares that he used that idea? His hack still looks better than yours
