Learn-as-you-go, really.
If I can nab a copy of VB6 and tweak Gav's editor somewhat, it'll be a nice example of how things work. ![](images/smilies/smile.gif)
A lot of the stuff is rediculously easy to figure out (Levels are always 30x11, and alwyas 1byte per object, in order, no compression) and it's always the same format.
The only thing that's got me stumped is the monster data layout, but I haven't exactly looked into it (nor can I, for the same reason I can't write QB programs on here -- the updownleftright buttons in DOS modes act like SHIFT + arrow button. And it's only them. |

Do you know VB, or will this be a "learn as you go" style project?
It doesn't matter whether the editor runs under DOS, as long as it is bug-free. ![](images/smilies/wink.gif) |

------------------- CM EDITOR ------------------- I may have the source code in my possession. The earliest I can start work again is in 2 weeks, so I'm figuring "PLAN AHEAD THIS TIME DAMMIT".
I'd just like to see what you think. Options are listed in Easiest -> Hardest to do.

Hope this helps someone who might be interested ![](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Also note, if there's something that's not covered you'd like some info on, please tell me. I know a lot of stuff, I'm just not exactly going to update it for no reason ![](images/smilies/shiftright.gif) |
