From the board FAQ which everybody are supposed to read:
DON'T: 4. Bump (post in) old or outdated threads.
(Yes, I know that I'm breaking rule 17. Sue me.) |

...woah, talk about the bump.
And touch screen is easy, the DS is only able to take one point on the screen at the time. So you would use the mouse and click on the "buttons" instead of... touching things. |

Wait, what? I never tried to write a GBA emulator. I tried a GBC one - in fact, I did get a CPU emulator going, it was just too slow in VB. (Gonna try again in C sometime. ) And I have indeed made some GBC homebrew stuff. I just need to figure out a filesystem for SRAM and it'll be complete. (Kinda difficult when you only have 32K to work with. I'd rather just store the programs on an SRAM chip and let them modify themselves, but no emulator supports that. ) |

Says the person that's been trying to write a GBA emulator and homebrew for how long now? Slow down and come back to earth, dream realistically, THEN move foward. |

That's the top reason why I want a DS emulator.
...heh i'm gonna try programmng for GBA in meanwhile so I get a taste for game devolopment. I already have started to plan even, heh. |

I think a DS emulator wouldn't be very good. I mean, you wouldn't be able to get a real feel for the system and it would be hard to port some of the features. =P Snika |

If you're asking about the acronym, in this case it would most likely be 'Kill on Sight' It goes with what happened to the link and all In the case that you were asking about something else, disregard this post and go back to what you were talking about before |

does KOS mean autoban?
Not as in, like, the highway, but as in like, automatic banning? |

The point is to delete the link upon sight. If person A posts a warez link and 10 people click on it, then we can't start slapping them all around for doing so. At the same time, it's against board rules so it's pretty much a KOS offence. |

Might have been too late though. Those who already clicked it are "in the know" |

The FAQ says: DON'T: 15. Post rom/warez links on the board. You're free to exchange links with others through private messages, but do not post them out in the open.

I really don't see why people think having 2 screens will make it difficult. That just means having to create 2 windows. Touch-screen should be easy to emulate with the mouse. The only real problem is the CPU power and rather obscure cart format.
Really, I'm not concerned about an emulator so much as a flash cart, even if it's not big enough for any commercial games. I wanna take advantage of all that power for stuff Nintendo can't/won't do, like emulators, PDAs, and slightly-less-than-legal tone generators. Plus I'm quite intriuged about the hardware itself. It looks like just about everything can be controlled via software, which I really like the sound of. (Notice how toggling the backlight, booting a GBA game, etc is all software-controlled; sleep mode can be disabled, etc.)
What I wonder is how the carts themselves work. Are they just like smaller GBA carts, or some new format? It'd be really neat if they really were the same sort of thing as those flash cards used in digital cameras, especially if the entire cart was rewriteable. (Though that could be dangerous, both to Nintendo (easier piracy) and the players (possibility of having the whole game wiped out). But it seems easier to make the whole thing one re-writeable chip than to try to fit both a ROM and an EEPROM/SRAM/whatever in there.) |
