Whatever it was is gone, since it haven't done it since I created this thread. I just hope It'll not come back. |

Well your modem could support the option, but have it disabled, and a virus could enable it. |

The thing is that It never done that to me before, and I've been using the same modem for 4 months. |

As stated before, it could actually be your modem powering up the system when you get a call. If I yank the PC power plug out of the wall whilst connected to the internet, my modem goes into that mode by itself. (Not that I ever do that, it happened to me a couple of times with power cuts) There's probably a BIOS setting that disables it. |

Some BIOSes have auto-startup options, a virus could mess with that. Either way I'd recommend you scan with the modem turned off. |

I don't think a virus ever did that. But I think you can make the computer boot when you're hacking it. |

Some dialups have wake on call and some network cards have wake up on lan or something, not sure what the last one is called. Basically, if someone calls you when you have your modem in and comp off, the comp can start up. Or if someone connects to you through the network and your comp is off, it can start up. It'd be very weird if a virus could start up your comp, I doubt most viruses can do that. |

And does it start as normal "when it turns on?". You maybe didn't even turn it off competly.
Yes, it starts as normal.
You do know there is usually a switch backside on most computer where you can turn a computer competly off.
I knew, but I thought about how it could actually be cause by something related to my connection (Or using my connection to come in my computer) so I turned my modem to off.
Also, when it shuted it down (the first time), there was a weird Fatal Error (when I say weird is that after I pressed a key, the screen became grey and black with line on it). |

I wasn't there last evening, but I forgot to either shut down my computer or turn on ZoneAlarm.
Huge error from me. I came, shut down the computer, then five seconds later it boots itself for no reason. I shut it down again, it boots itself after 2-3 minutes. I then decided to go in safe mode and do a virus scan and what do I find? This virus: Backdoor.Hacdef.2.AA . I have no idea what It does exactly (but I'm going to check) but I got rid of it as soon as it was detected (Another of my errors, not letting the scan complete itself, because I didn't have all night). Then I've shuted down the computer and what happens? It boots itself again. At that point I was: "Maybe it's an hardware problem". But then I decided to try something: Kill my internet connection using the modem. Guess what? It worked.
So I came to my conclusions that I've been hacked. So, what I want to know is: What I said is it logical? Or could it be something else causing that?
EDIT: Currently running a virus scan, just in case. |
