Just for clarification, Smallhacker's answer for number eighteen "the question" was almost right, but the answer I was looking for was "a riddle". Since Heian's "a conundrum" means a riddle, I counted it. (The difference between a question and a riddle is tricky to understand, and I don't want to try to get too much into that here. It has to do with a riddle being a situation that you don't understand and a question being a form of speech.) I know It's kind of borderline, but you already got 4 points this time Smallhacker so I hope you understand.

Okay, here's the deal. Due to Thanksgiving, and a surge in the need for me to focus on school, I'm not going to be on Acmlm's board for two weeks a while. That means that this thread won't be updated with new riddles until December 7th (12-07-04) some time in the future that I'm not sure of. When I do come back, I'll have a new user-pic, a new layout, and five or more new riddles for you folks to solve.
Also, when I come back I'm putting riddle number seven to its death, whether or not anyone has figured it out. In the mean time, guesses will still be accepted, and I've raised the value of the riddle to 6 points!

There is a concert that starts in 17 minutes and four people must all cross a bridge to get there. All four begin on the same side of the bridge. It is night, and there is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it cannot be thrown, etc. Each band member walks at a different speed. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower one's pace:
Heian: - 1 minute to cross
Small: - 2 minutes to cross
Nick: - 5 minutes to cross
Jagori: - 10 minutes to cross

Smallhacker gnabs fourteen and fifteen - only one minute after I posted the riddles! This puts him in second place! (Actually, after I posted the last post I noticed that I needed to edit, but instead of editing I decided to delete and repost. I didn't know that Smallhacker was already posting his answer while I was reposting the questions. I'm just glad I was faster than he was - it would have looked messed-up to have the answers before the riddles.)

A man drives over a mile from his house to have a drink with a buddy. When the man arrives home, the clock shows a time only two minutes later than when he left.
How did this happen?
1) The clock stopped
2) It was some kind of daylight saving thing
3) The clock showed the wrong time and his wife/something corrected it while he was away
An addicted homeless man felt he needed to smoke cigarettes, but did not have any way to buy them. One day he discovered that if he collected discarded cigarette butts, he could make 1 cigarette from every 5 butts found. He collected 25 butts.
How many cigarettes could the man smoke?
6 cigatettes. The 25 butts makes 5 cigarettes. Then, there's 5 butts left, which can be used to make one extra cigarette. |

Reshaper, indeed it never occurred to me that these tablets were the breakable kind. I assumed they were little round pills!
Synneth, that's a good answer for 12. But is the bag 25 feet from the horse, or the pole?

#12: the horse and bag are on opposite sides of the pole. the horse is 15 feet away from the pole, and the bag is 10 feet on the other side of the pole, but the horse can go to the other side to get it still being in the rope's range. |

As for number eight, Heian, your answer wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it made great sense and was very well explained. The answer I was originally looking for was that you could simply take another pill out of the A bottle, so you would have two of each in your hand, and then break each one in half -- taking half of each separate one. Then you just save all the other halves for the next day. I realized from the beginning that it wasn't stated that the pills were breakable tablets, but I felt like that would just make it too easy. Crushing the pills into powder and mixing them in water works fine as well.
