Since you (I think) already have the ExGFX for the background, First thing you should do is get in to the 16x16 editor and get to a page after page 10 (this is when they start being used for the background), preferably a blank one if you plan on keeping some of the backgrounds from the original. Click on any tile and hit "edit 16x16 attributes" and select the four 8x8 tiles you want for the tile, select the palette you want, and paste it where you want it. Repeat until you have enough tiles to construct a background (note that not all of the tiles you use to make your background have to be from the background section, though it's generally a good idea not to use them from other areas until you're certain what graphics you want for the level), press F9 to save the data, then go to "level," click "Change Background Map16 page," and select the page you constructed the tiles for your background on. At that point, if you closed it, reopen the 16x16 editor and bring up the appropriate page, then open the background editor, and paste the 16x16 tiles in to the background. If you don't know, you left click the tiles in the 16x16 editor then right click in the background editor where you want them.

For the blocktool thing...

1. Open block tool, and go to file > open to open your ROM.
2. Click add block and add what ever blocks you want to add.
3. Open up windows calculator (or a real calculator) and open up LM.
4. Now go to page a page of the Map16 (3-F) and hold your mouse over a square.
5. There will be a hex # in the bottom left of the screen that you need to type into the calculator under the hex format.
6. Now click the decimal format on the calculator so the number changes.
7. In block tool type that # in the Map16 box that is at the bottom of the screen where you chose what block you want.
8. Go to file > save
9. Close LM and open it again. Go to the page of Map16 the block was to be put on, and hold your mouse over the blue square that you held it on before. It will pop up with a tooltip message you haven't seen before explaining the block.
10. Hopefully that works.

Ok, I know how to edit backround items, but not the backround itself

The ExGFX that I've obtained are for backround items. I'm trying to find out how to create, or even find, backrounds from smb 1,2 & 3. Also, I have block tool. I have smb1 blocks inserted into my level, but, of course, I would surely love to know how to make the blocks breakable from underneath when your big. I have the program, but can't find out how to use it correctly. So, if I could get some information about creating, or finding, level backrounds, and how to make the blocks breakable form underneath, I'll be extremely greatfull!! Thank you for your help once again guys!!
