Are you thinking about modifying this program? It would be more convenient if you did'nt have to type up the directory. Also, I cannot see half of what I type as it gets cut off. Maybe you should make the size adjustable? It is an effective program however.
EDIT: Sprites such as the Monty Mole (BF) and Bomb Omb (0D), using Palette 8, don't change. Palette 8 has always been really wierd. Can the Custom Palette option be turned on in LM? |

You can also find the numbers in the tooltips that appear for the sprites. Or you can hit "5" in the editor to display the sprite numbers over each sprite in the level.
Also, for anyone that changes the sprite palette numbers in the ROM: you can force LM to use an external sprite Map16 data file, which can be updated to make the sprites appear correctly in LM (Hit Ctrl-Shift-PageDown in the Map16 editor, scroll to the last 2 pages, edit as required, then hit Ctrl-F9 to save to an external file).

I still use LM 1.61, and in 1.61 you can see the sprite numbers. I guess Fu removed them from LM 1.62.
To see which palete each sprite uses, just go testing in the palete editor and see what sprites are affected by each palete. Don't pay attention to the sprites that use palete 8, though. Their colors will be overwritten by the game, and some of them will be used by Mario, and affecting mario's palete is no good |

Here's a neat program I threw together based on Mikeyk's sprite data. It edits which palette a sprite uses. No guarantee that it works with every single sprite, but still...
Enough talking. Here's the program:

(By the way. Sorry about the unexisting GUI. ) |
