Doom 3 is not scary ... (check the Doom 3 thread for my excuse.)

If you want to play something freaky, play Fatal Frame 1 or 2. It doesn't exactly spook you when you play it, but when it's time to sleep, try not to think, aye?

I've been playing survival/horror games for quite a while, but none of them scared me that much; I sure got freaking moments but never to the point of beeing totally scared. I sure remember the first time I played the first Resident Evil for the PlayStation 1.. The first time you see the video where the hunter comes to get you (you see him coming and opening doors..). I guess that's the first and last time I freaked out.. I mean, I litteraly closed the PSX at the end of the video..

It's kind of funny that someone else thinks of something that you could have easily thought of yourself. It's just weird at times when that happens.

She didn't come over, I just needed to talk to someone. You're a thinker, I never thought of that.

I'd agee, Doom 3 scares the shit out of me. I play it alone in the dark with headphones on. Oh man, I even had to call my GF to have someone to talk to because that game is insane.

Uh, how did your girlfriend react when you told her to come over because you couldn

Manhunt is an excellent alternative to more traditional horror games. It's more disturbing, and really gets in your head...

It's only for PC, plus there's the downgraded version for Xbox.

So you're not a FPS gamer...but do look into Thief, like I was saying. I used to be a big FPS fan, but Thief totally changed my views on what to expect out of a first-person game. The object is not to kill, you get several mission objectives that you have to carry through with (like for example, breaking some chick's brother out of a smelly prison while you're there and finished with your other objectives, so that she might "pay you back" in some way--only available on the hardest setting, which is the only way to play the game since it gives you so much more fun stuff to do), the world's very interactive... Great stuff.

Clock Tower 3 is the only Clock Tower game I've played. It was a little creepy from time to time but not really what I'm looking for in a scary game.

I'd play Doom 3 but the fact is that I don't really like first person shooters.

There was a sequel for D which was one of the launch games for the Dreamcast. That was supposed to be scary, but it never got released outside Japan AFAIK.

Yeah, I own the remake too. with controls aside i feel that there are some pretty scare parts. if not scary then at least some kick-ass visuals. The mutant girl's cabin complete with action mutant girl was pretty messed up! the portion where the zombies break through the windows in that bathroom hallway has a cool thriller feel to it. not knowing what a crimson head was going into the game freaked me the fuck out when the first one popped up! the big letdown i had was earlier in the game. you know, that super creepy tomb in the grave yard where the casket was chained to the ceiling. I expected a really awesome boss to pop out. but all we get is a slightly tougher crimson head.

Did anyone play the game "D" for Playstation? It's quite old and lame by todays standards, but when i first played it though it was the best looking game i ever played. it was a pre-rendered deal with set paths, so that sucked. And it wasn't all too scary either. my favorite part however is when the main character (laura I think) inspects the painting of the little girl, it smiles devilshly back and laughs at her.

Doom 3 is very very scary. Just a fetch and retrieve. It'll be fine.

Warghhhhh!

I've played pretty much every Resident Evil, and I've played Silent Hill. The only game that's ever truly terrified me is Doom 3. This game has had me on the edge of my seat, it's that scary for me. ome people might not find it scary at all, that's fine, but I think it's the scariest game I've ever played.
