It was extremely weird and all I saw was the end.

Sorry to bring this topic back up, but I just got this movie after looking for a long time. This is the most freaking awesome movie I have ever seen. I loved it from start to finish, and it really went deeper than any movie I've seen. I especially loved the implications of the power Tetsuo had, as in how the power began to control him. Really made an imprssion. I'm gonna have to collect the comic series now.

Akira is a highlight in my anime related life.

Simply a good movie worth watching.

Akira was... weird. In a good way though. The first time I saw it I checked it out from the library. It was under the foreign films section of the videos they had, and it was all subbed (not that I minded). I saw it again when I got it from the video store.

I love that one song that they have on it, though for the life of me I can't remember the name. I think it was called "Tetsuo".

I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, if their interested in anime.

Metaphysical dogma?! No, definitely not. I see Tetsuo as some troubled kid that was never cared for in life, so he turned out that way. Kaneda, on the other hand, had basically the same past except he has friends. The comparison between the two characters is lind of like a comparison between Gaara and Naruto.

It was cool until Tetsuo starts "transforming" and stuff.. and then it turns into your general anime apocolyptic crap with metaphysical dogma, etc. I've never seen that done well, really (though it wasn't as bad as Eva.)

I think that Akira is an amazing Manga... I've only seen it twice, but I would eagerly reccomend it to everyone I passed in the streets, If I had the motivation, that is .

Though I reckon it's freaky when
Spoiler:

Tetsuo goes all evil and stuff, and his arm grows a lot, and starts to engulf everyone... It looks suprisingly real, even though you wouldn't see happenings like that in real life ...

But yeah... I'd reccomend watching it if you ever get the chance... Metropilis is good too ...

I need to watch this again. It's been ages since and I've forgotten most of it.

Did you hear that someone is trying to make this into a live-action movie?

Akira straight kicks ghetto booty. It was funny without being too frantic, and went deeper than most anime was going at the time. I mean, it ends with a big bang!
Hewn from a giant screaming cancer blob!! Plus, the outer space sequences have no sound. (beginning to ramble) That's another thing about the movie that rocks: the realism, from the revolutionary fighters to the gory riot control scenes. A blueprint for the future, one might say (blah blah ramble ramble).

Yeah.

Ha, my friend said during the space sequence (Look, it's actually freaking real, NEVER will you hear sound in space.) Unlike some animes and movies.

Spriggan did have a crappy storyline, and the child was just an idiot. But I thought Spriggan had some good music. But no anime out there can beat Akira's artwork, all done by hand. Some of the settings reminded me of FFVII. And the music was very kick ass, same with the bikes.:p

Spriggan was right crappy. Akira is a cool movie, though, with a real bitchin' soundtrack.

Some of my friends argued Spriggan was a copy off of Akira. I personally liked both equally though.

Really well done, and somewhat creepy. I really enjoyed the movie.

I think I'm going to buy the comic series once I'm done buying Cerebrus.

This is definitely a classic anime. Although I don't believe it's the best of all, it's completely worth multiple watches and a must see for anime fans that haven't seen it.
