check this thread: http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=3856
there's some code there that uses the GD image library to display the viewers IP in a newly created image.

Ah, cool, such as ip tracking in a image. Fairly neat. To research!

I thought it was done using php, but I was skeptical because I thought this board didn't accept any kind of scripting in post content. Also, Q: What is GD, exactly? I have a vague understanding, I believe it works with php to manipulate image output, but can someone elaborate on its premise?

I have noticed that in some post layouts (actually, only Acmlm's) images are used as fonts. What I mean is, in Acmlm's layout, on the right, his posting stats/ranks are displayed. However, what is used to write out these stats isn't normal text, but it looks like each individual letter is an image. How can this be done? Do you create an image for each letter, then set a variable that links to the image when that character is displayed? Like " if 'a' then img=www.ble.com/images/letter_a.gif" or something like that? I just think its cool and would like to know how its done.
